Not at all. It's a close suburb of ATL.

Taco Mac is a good suggestion. Great beer selection.

Los Hermanos is good for Tex/Mex

Bonefish, California Dreaming and other decent chains around.

Arena Tavern is a pretty good sports bar. Used to host LSU Atlanta for the LSU games.

Marlow's is a decent restaurant/bar. There are several in town. Not sure if it is a national chain.

There are some really nice quaint restaurants in Old Town Norcross. Just try them out.

Get out of your area asap as well, so you can get acclimated to the city. Otherwise you become "one of those people." Go to Decatur. Great restaurants and bars there.

As for grocery, the leading big chains are Publix and Kroger.

I will post more as I think of it.

edit: since someone else brought race to the thread, let me say that by "one of those people" I mean people that move here and think their own little area of town is all there is.

God help you...

I lived outside Lawrenceville for many years. The city might as well be under martial law as the Lawrenceville City PD is a nightmare. Some profiling mf'ers over there. In the late 90's they racked up hundreds of DUI offenses on teenagers by subjecting them to urine tests after routine traffic stops and charging them with driving under the influence of marijuana at a later date.

If your white you'll be okay, a minority well then good luck!

Discover Mills? Where Bass Pro is located? They have an 18 Screen Movie Theater there. And I think a Dave and Buster's (adult Chuck E Cheese)

Gwinnett Braves are close. Cheap tickets, good atmosphere and a nice small stadium.

BTW, Los Hermanos is about a mile from the intersection of Old Norcross and Sugarloaf.

Skip Gwinnett Place Mall and head up 85 to the Mall of Georgia. Lots of restaurants there including PF Changs (not a fan myself but some here love it), Ted's Montana Grill and . Also a IMAX theater.

There is a Sam's Club and a Costco just down 85 from you (near the aforementioned Gwinnett Place Mall).

PGA Superstore is close to there as well.

I agree. My white son had an issue with the LVille PD.

I do wish we could get more negative publicity. Despite the hatred for Atlanta, we still have too many people moving here.

I prefer Duluth and Suwanee Squares over L-ville, and further west, like Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Roswell are all great places to live

Park Cafe is a great restaurant in Duluth Square (where I had my wedding rehearsal dinner) - Exec Chef had a stint at Ritz in NO and he has some great dishes, crab bisque

Also, Boudreaux's is a great cafe that is authentic LA food - and that's Buford Hwy near Duluth and not far from Sugarloaf area

agreed on Arena Tavern - was our after party after our wedding reception - had the place packed with my crazy BR and NO fam and they were trying to continue ordering shots and beers after 2 - I had to remind them we weren't in NO anymore.

Los Hermanos is solid. Check out The Local Republic if you like upscale burgers and such. Definitely head into Decatur and check out Everybody's pizza near Emory and Athens Pizza House for good Greek food.

Agree. "downtown" L'ville is not much at all.

Norcross is nice though.

Haven't been to Boudreaux's but Adele's in Roswell is solid La. cuisine.

The great sanitized suburbs. Acres and acres of sameness.
