I have not been reading this board but a lot of people were thinking Gruden was headed to Tennessee, correct me if I'm wrong.. But I hear he's eyeing the Eagles job in Philly.

With the evidence and reasoning you've presented, I don't see how anyone can think differently

I was in Knoxville over the weekend. One of the pregame radio guys made a good point about Gruden and the UT job.

Dave Hart wants to put his stamp on this hire, and he will be the one making the decision. It appears that some of the high end Vol boosters did reach out to Grudent to gauge his interest, and he seemed to show some. However, his name was not and is not on Hart's list and it is Hart's list that matters.

If Hart was to ignore the big boosters (and fans for that matter) then his tenure would be over quickly. Hell, he might not even get to make the hire.

i don't understand why Tenn fans aren't demanding petrino. he would literally, have them in the SECCG next year with all that offensive firepower.

If Gruden leaves the booth, it will be for an NFL job, PERIOD. Everytime an NFL coach is available, do the school that their wives went to perk up and think they'll be heading that way to take over? It's fun to talk about, i guess, but it aint happening.

I'm not saying Gruden is solid or even a possibility, but Hart and a Haslam would have to be turned down by him first. Which is entirely possible, even likely. But Hart would never outright ignore it.

Despite what everyone on here believes, Gruden is the only homerun possible for UT due to the sentimental factor, and the fact that he's not in a better coaching gig right now (unlike Fisher and Stoops). UT is going to throw some serious money at him, but he could still turn it down, maybe not even consider it that much. I assume most of this has happened, Hart is just keeping it tight-lipped.

Once Gruden is off the list, the other potential hires are not very good, imo. Fisher and Stoops are not plausible. I don't think Strong jumps. Shaw isn't going anywhere but the NFL. Smart would piss off the fanbase. Taggert is too risky. Then who knows who else is on Hart's list, NFL assistants? If Gruden is even considering, you put enough money on the table to sell him.

edit: And Petrino, Tressel, Fulmer, Chavis, etc. are not even being considered. Nor should they.
