Why can't people just accept the truth of this season: it was good but not great. We had a few good wins (TAMU, SC, UW), a few frustrating wins where we struggled against lesser teams (Ole Miss, Ark, Towson), and two losses (Alabama, UF). We won't win the NC, the SEC, the SEC West, or appear in a BCS bowl game. We tied for the fourth best record in the SEC.

It's not great, it's not terrible, it's just good.

Next season, hopefully we can achieve some of our championship aims.

So this just means that LSU sucks, and not that the SEC is even tougher now after the expansion? Right

Finished poorly to you means not winning the national title every year?? Are you serious?

Our weak finish vs Bama, Ole Miss, and Arky hurt us in bowl placement for 2012

Lets not even talk about how we finished in 2011. Most embarassing and public defeat in a long, long time

2010 - #5 ranked LSU beat unranked Ole Miss by a TD; dropped to #6, then we lost to Arky by 8 points dropping us to #11

2009 - Lost to Bama, survived La Tech, lost to unranked Ole Miss, went to OT to beat unranked Arky (went from 4th to 17th in rankings)

2008 - Lost to Bama, survived Troy St, lost to unranked Ole Miss & unranked Arky. Finished unranked after being the #4 team in the nation

If thats not finishing poorly, I cant help you. Unless you think Texas or USC are having "good" years.

This is stupid.

Yes our loss to Alabama cost us a shot at winning the SEC and playing in Miami. However, after that and our game against MSU, people were saying we were the best team in the country. We haven't been placed in a bowl yet so you have no clue what you are talking about and are just blowing smoke out of your arse when you say are games against Ole Miss and Arkansas hurt our bowl game.

We have two losses. So does A&M, Bama or Ga, and So Car. Yet we are the ones dropping to the Poultry bowl. Why us?

Because we play a brand of "not to lose" football that is very unexciting

Again, we haven't been selected to any bowl yet. You are speaking complete opinion.

Not really, the reason we would go to the "Poultry Bowl" is because UF beat FSU. If UF had dropped that game, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. It has absolutely 0 to do with our games against Ole Miss and Arkansas.

So what your saying is this has been one of the toughest years in conference? It also means all the top 6 teams beat each other. The playing field hasnt been this level in a few years.

So yes it is good. Wait til we go to 9 ganes. It will be even harder.

No not all top teams

Some of us played 4 of the top 6 teams, some of us only 2
Some of us played 2 top 5 teams, some of us 0

Like I said, not all 10+ win seasons are created equal

Oh so only your opinion on bowl selection is valid.

Bowl selection committees dont watch games, they review data:

Arkys last 5 games: lost to Ole Miss by 3, So Car by 18, Miss St 31, and LSU by 7. Beat Tulsa by 4. Makes us look like Ole Miss

Ole Miss last 5: Beat Arky by 3, and Miss St. Lost to Vandy by 1, LSU by 6, and Ga by 27. Puts us on the level of Vandy

A&Ms last 5: Beat Auburn by 40, Miss St by 25, the #1 team in the nation, Sam Houston by 21, Mizzou by 30. We are not seen to be in their league

Ga. last 5: beat #3 in the nation, Ole Miss by 27, Aub by 38, Ga Tech by 32, and Ga Southern by 31

does a 10 win season REALLY mean that much now-a-days?

Go back to 2008. Would you settle for 10 wins that season?

There's your answer.

Does anyone really think this team could win an 8 team playoff right now?

Yes. They lost to Alabama, the possible #2 seed despite outplaying them, which would bode well in a rematch. They lost to Florida because Minter got hurt and Florida kept running at the hole. I would love our chances in a rematch with either team.

Dude we're 1 play from playing UGA for the SEC. We're 2 or 3 plays from being undefeated.

And so are 5 other teams in the SEC.

We are also 5 plays from being 5-7.

It's been a tough year in the conference for some teams. But the bottom 8 teams in the conference were guaranteed wins for the top six. The conference is more than half full of teams that are not good at all, and those teams accounted for a lot of inflated records for teams like Alabama and Georgia.

The top 6 teams in the SEC had basically 8 guaranteed wins on their schedule each, and some had more. Not too hard to get to 10 wins from there. Of course, it was brutal for the bottom half of the conference, but they are bad teams who generally performed badly against mediocre OOC opponents.

And we played 4 of those 6 teams. And we still won 10 games.

The only teams we didn't play were Georgia and, well us.

Bama played 2 of the 10 win teams and split those games.

Florida is the only one with a winning record vs the other 10 win teams.

My God the idiocy of many LSU fans is stunning. LSU lost two games...to the present number 2 and 4 teams in the country by a combined total of 12 and somehow the season wasn't a success???

Please go find another school to burden.
