Looking to purchase a walk in cooler for deer..any suggestions? Would rather pay more than build my own..types and price ranges appreciated as tough to get a concrete price on line..tia

Where are you going to put it out in the open, in a shed, etc. How big a cooler do you need? I would think a used commercial unit would work.

Can I have loan that you dont expect to be paid back anytime soon?

It will be under an open walled metal building with the back against the enclosed metal building..would like to at least hold a couple deer at a time..any experience with this?

Your best bet is to check with a restaurant supply company like Ducote's in Baton Rouge. A new one would cost you a few thousand easy to be large enough for a few deer. Price is going to depend on the size.
You could also check eBay for used ones. You may even be able to find a local one in the papers or on craiglist.

Jason, don't most of those require a concrete slab for a base?

A lot of them will have their own floor already built into them but a concrete slab/floor is better in my opinion especially if you can build a drain into it. Makes it easy to clean.
They make them both ways. With a floor and without a floor but most of the smaller ones will already have a floor built into them.

I have only seen larger ones, wasn't sure of the smaller units.

Look for A used truck with the cooler.

That thing is pretty crazy. As long as you don't have to use it much and/or if it holds up, that would definitely be a cheap option for a deer cooler.

This is what I used for a crawfish cooler when I had a seafood market/deli in Baton Rouge. Works great, easy to wash out, and you could even put it outside.
I took the body(cooler part) off of the truck and put mine on the ground.

truckpaper.com is the main online source for trucks.
You could look at some of the bigger dealers, like in tuscaloosa etc, that probably have a reefer that they took off of a truck.
good luck.
