We have same record, both lost 2 in West division but we are ranked higher in polls. So assuming we both win out, how would they get the nod for Sugar if FL and UGA lose? For the other bowls that can choose who to pick is it just TAM would be more hype then LSU? What am I missing?

A&M v UT is going to happen. I do not see A&M in the Sugar under any circumstance

It's payback for the Sugar Bowl choosing LSU over Auburn in '06.

Ok, I saw in some posts they said TAM needed to lose this week and was wondering why.

An aTm loss combined with a Bama loss to auburn would be devastating for lsu because that would send Bama to the sec championship game.

An aTm win with a Bama loss to auburn puts lsu in the sec championship game.

Bama beats auburn, then aTm losing would only improve our chances for a bcs bowl bc it would take them out of any consideration.

Of course, for it to even matter FSU must beat UF.

We both have only 1 loss in West. Texas is going to turn down the chance to go to Cotton to play A&M.

Wouldn't we go either way if Bama loses to Aub? Surely Bama would drop below LSU and TAM so top 2 in BCS and since we have the head to head against TAM, we would go right?

Other than being in the top 4, rankings have no bearing on BCS selections. Bowl committees pick based on $$. Tickets sales, which fan base travels, who will fill hotels...that's it. So hype is everything. Being a spot or two above a school means jack shite.

No because they beat us head-to-head.

If Bama lost to Auburn, that would give them 2 losses in the West division to our 1. Even if A&M won, we'd still go to the SEC champ over them. We have the head to head and they have two losses in the West division...

In tie-break between 3 schools with identical records, don't they take the top 2 in the BCS as the first tie breaker? Thus leaving LSU and TAM for the head to head condition?

You said "either way". I assumed by that you meant whether aTm wins or loses. If you didn't, then please explain what you did mean.

A&M is new kid on block with heisman contender. So if we don't win SEC or finish in top 4, the Sugar can pick whoever they want and would possibly pick A&M over LSU.

Can politics get involved here? Come on...this is Louisiana. Has to be some political favors we can pull with the Sugar Bowl selection committee.

This! I'm not saying the Sugar Bowl would pick A&M over LSU, nor am I saying A&M deserves to go, but the Sugar Bowl will make their decision on how many people will fill the stands, fill the hotels and fill the television sets. I think if JFF wins the Heisman and LSU is not in the top for we go. If he doesn't then LSU goes regardless.
