This is problem this year because LSU is actually better than BAMA...that slip screen cost us the SEC and NC.

I'm sick all over...

No it fricking isn't.

We had a chance.

We knew the stakes.

We blew it.

Advocating for a larger playoff makes that problem worse. How is it any different if we blow that slip screen in a playoff game?

Is it magically more valid?

I understand the left out concerns....but a 4 team playoff goes a long way towards alleviating that.

In football, season body of work>>>>>>>>>>>>>single elimination playoff.

Exactly.

At least some of the push (although I doubt they'll never admit it) is to specifically degrade the regular season.

If the margins weren't so thin, they can be more excited further in the season.

That first or even second loss won't be as crushing.

nobody would want that and your trying to be stupid just for the sake of it.

I actually like the idea of the six teams with the first 2 having a bye, then all the games would matchup perfectly with the BCS bowls and NCG bowl, without alternating.

You guys just love this stupid arse chaos at the end of the year, every year.

I have always been for win your conference and the computers will pick the top 6 conference winners for a playoff. The computers seed them giving the top two teams a bye.

I have no problem with this as it takes the majority of the media bias out of the sport.

The playoff system does not allow for more than two teams from the same conference in so if it were an 8 team play off you could exclude FL, LSU, A&M and SC! KState, And Oregon are still alive in an 8 team scenrario and you open the door to Fla States and whoever is 10-13 because the SEC holds 6 spots in the top ten. Only two are allowed from each conference. So you would take two of the 6 SEC TEAMS in the top ten and then everyone moves up 4 spots to fill the sec spots excluded. That's what sux.

How are you picking those 8 teams?

Probably by a system that is a matter of opinion, so how does that fix anything?

no i just don't like the idea of giving teams a shot for the title who should never get that shot

and i hate tying in playoff appearances to conferences, which WILL happen

One year we want to see X number of teams in a payoffs format and the next year there are four elite teams so then we want a four team playoff. It's useless to think that way you won't ever have it fixed just right

4 games. don't be shortsighted because LSU is ranked 7. I like that every week counts in the NCAA. A 2 loss team should not be able to win NCAA (again)

you do realize they're not going to let the SEC get 4-5 teams in an 8-team playoff, right?

People always seem to think that an 8 team playoff would just be the top 8. No. Going to 8 is going to require each conference champion in. That is 5 teams guaranteed from the SEC, ACC, B1G, Big 12 and PAC 12. That leaves 3 at large teams. Basically the SEC would have the same shot as they do now in a 4 team playoff of getting multiple teams in.

if a demand proves to be legitimate and cost/beneficial if met, then they should do whatever it takes to meet it. But I never seen a season where there were more than 4 teams that have a legitimate argument to play. 16 teams scenario, you're just being silly

exactly...and possibly a 6th conference

and of those remaining slots, it would be very likely that one would be a non-BCS school

I never understand the argument that a playoff format makes regular season less important. Quite the opposite, a playoff system makes every regular season count all the way to the end as you never know what the final records (and quality of play) of teams will be until the last game, therefore, teams will fight to the end to be included in the top 8.

I don't want to get into another one of these arguments because I have always been a supporter of a playoff system in college football. The reason I don't buy into the sacredness of the regular season is because they are not even. Hell, even in our own conference the schedules are not even and we want to compare a Pac-12 or Big XII schedule to an SEC or ACC schedule? It's not even at all. I would be perfectly fine with playing everyone in your conference. Take the top 3 teams to the playoffs and play it out.

Playoffs should only be for conference champions only. SEC, PAC-12, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, Big East, and two wild Carson's from either ND or non-aq conferences. Could use BCS formula or just a straight up strength of schedule (opponent W-L %and Opponents opponents W-L %).

Conference championships and every teams W-L record will keep fans focused.
