Cap'n Obvious here...
It's no secret that in the last dozen years it has become fashionable for locals to be LSU "fans", or more accurately, to attend LSU games.
At the same time the commercialization of the college game has led to higher ticket prices, suites, parking fees etc, so that attendance can be a luxury for those who can afford it.
The program has made a lot of money as a result, making it one of the most profitable anywhere.
The dilletante fan is fully (and, perhaps extravagantly) paid for his admission and may feel no obligation to anyone as a result,
A Sat nite in TS is just another form of entertainment, like a movie, concert or symphony.
The superficial attachment of these fans is such that they unapologetically leave the stadium in the third quarter for dinner, to avoid traffic or just b/c they are bored.
Alot of folks who ARE more emotional attached, knowledgeable and loyal get left out.
I regret that, and the creeping demise of Death Valley that it fosters.

It has always been a SOCIAL and SPORTING event, if you thought otherwise, you are wrong.

When I had my stores on BR, a losing season meant 25%-30% less sales...
people did not have to be SEEN or attend parties....
it is all tied together...both types attend games then and now

Staypuffy,
So you're good with Death Valley one day a year?
After all, it's not completely dead yet.
It just comes in and out of a coma now and then.

is that so?

so I guess SCarolina game was dead too? and Washington?

why you have a issue with what someone does with the ticket they bought???

makes no sense. We just saw/heard the national media crown LSU and TS and it's fans as THE place to be for CFB

and you wanna start bitching because????? why again????

cause it's not like that every game??? at you for thinking it COULD be

why do people want to tell others how to live their live after they have spent their own money I do not get.

if I want to burn my ticket is mine to do.

...
it will not be long, you'd be bitching about those who leave early (without knowing the circumstances)

LSU alumni here and I proudly race out of the stadium at end of first half of games that are seemingly in control. I like to get somewhere in front of a tv before second half starts.

They pay for the first class facilities that make us the national power we are. And like someone previously stated-It has always been a social event for most.

I think he meant in the stadium. I'm a proud LSU grad who wears the colors whether in Green Bay or San Jose. I follow Football and Baseball religiously and I still don't stay at either sports' games through 4 qtrs or 9 innings unless the game is close.

No one questions that it has always been a social event.
If the thread sucks, ignore it.
Your post certainly added nothing ..

The crowd performance against MSU was pitiful, no doubt about it.

The truth is that absent optimal circumstances (night game with national championship implications against a top five opponent that remains close throughout), most attendees are too indolent, lazy, and porcine to even remain in the stadium and cheer loudly for the team they claim to cherish. Some have legitimate excuses for leaving, but most just want to rush back to their threadbare sofas and their DVR'd Storage Wars.
