| Biggest movie flops this year (Posted on 11/15/12 at 10:42 am)
LINK Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure- grossed 1 million on a 20 million dollar budget equaling 5% return. A Thousand Words- 20 million on a 40 million dollar budget. 50% return. I must have totally missed this movie. Dredd-earned only 56 percent of its estimated $50 million. I still want to see it, I like everything Karl Urban has done. Well, Doom and Pathfinder or whatever kind of sucked. Big Miracle- 25 mill of 40 milion. Never heard of it. Wanderlust- only earned only 70 percent of its estimated budget of $30 million Cloud Atlas just missed the cut because it is still in theaters. But it had only made 24 million of an estimated 100 million dollar budget. That sucks. I kind of saw flop in the trailers to be honest. Just didn't look that interesting to me.

Was that this year? You're right though, I wonder how that missed this list.

I'm sure it was. The rating probably hindered it quite a bit.

Everyone I have talked to who saw that movie has said they loved it. I see it playing on Spike or F/X for years to come. And by "everyone" I mean parents who took their child aged 5-15 to see it.

Battleship was horrible. I guess the previews were so good my expectations were too high. I actually enjoyed John Carter and Dredd.

I haven't heard of any of those movies (in the OP) except Dredd. They might should have saved a little money for marketing. You could not pay me to see Battleship. A transformers fight love story based off the simplest board game of all time. No thanks.

I though A Thousand Words was pretty good...for a recent Eddie Murphy flick.

It sure does seem like John Carter was last year, altho I know it's not. I think it's just amazing how it's November already..

From the previews it looked like battleships were going to battle aliens. I was sold. It turned out to be so much less than that.

No it didn't. Studios only receive about 55% to 75% of their box office take back. Whenever you go to the movie theaters and they say that the reason they have high concession prices is because that's the only way they make money, it's bull shite. Most big chains get at least 40% of the ticket price back.
