Aside from the Super Bowl that the guy pretty much walked into he hasn't done anything too special, and on top of that he has never been a college head coach.

Because he has a TV show and is on MNF. Our fans that want him are convinced he can land top 10 recruiting classes on name alone.

because UT fans are convinced he has deep roots with the university and wants nothing more than to coach there.

In reality, he just wanted to bang a cheerleader.

Ask yourself this question if you even have a clue about Grudens personal demeanor: would Gruden be the type person to go into families homes and kiss azz to recruit 17 yr old kids? He would be a lot quicker to actually tell the parents to frick off than to do this.

He will be an NFL coach next year.

People like you tend to forget he built that Oakland team that he beat in the Super Bowl. I am not saying he will make a good college coach or not but he has been at the top of the game.

Because he won a super bowl with Tony Dungy's players.

Something Dungy couldn't do, and he was playing against his old team who he was traded from for a nice haul of draft picks.

Gruden took over a mess at Oakland and built a championship team, only to get screwed by the tuck rule. Oakland was ready to take a knee and headed to the Super Bowl.

I was just wondering this reading another thread. He had one good year and hasn't coached in 10 years.

Remember what team he beat in that SB? Who do you think built that team?

Yeah, Vols fans were thrilled about hiring Dooley. Definitely the top choice among the fan base.

Gruden was a total failure at the NFL level. Only a coach with Nick Saban's and Pete Carrol's (pre-2001) sparkling record in the NFL could move to college and be successful.

I was excited enough to burn a mattress.

But I burn mattresses after regular bowel movements.

Compare Tampa's roster when Gruden left to when he got there. They went from talent-laden to desolate.

Still waiting for the Gruden fanboys to point out a TB QB that actually improved under this supposed QB guru.

Hmmmmmm... let's see...

Rich Gannon: Pro-Bowl (1999, 2000, 2001), All-Pro (2000)
Brad Johnson: Pro-Bowl (2002)
Jeff Garcia: Pro-Bowl (2007)

Pro Bowl voting is damn near meaningless. Are you saying that Brad Johnson was a better QB at TB than at Minnesota? Or Garcia than at SF or Philly?

Gannon never played at TB.

You mean offensive NFL Rookie-of-the-year Cadillac Williams?

Yeah, terrible pick. What a bust.
