He had an entire offseason to prepare for this season. He didn't perform until 2 weeks ago to the level you mention. What in the world makes you think he would have done that in january. Your are dumb.

It took 8 weeks and on offseason for Mett to start playing well as a Junior. It wasn't just 1 bye week

Exactly what I came in here to say when I read the title. Don't even need to read the post content. It took almost a whole season for our offense to gel together. Mett wasn't gonna come in on 1/9 and be the savior.

But, but, but he didn't have a bye week to practice throwing. Think what he could have done with 4 weeks before Florida.

It doesn't make me wonder about 1/9. The more I think about it the more I'm convinced we weren't winning that game.

It does make me wonder about the early part of this season. If Mett had gotten some playing time in some of the blowouts last year, maybe he would have gotten off to a faster start this year. Maybe the receivers would have gotten used to the velocity of his passes and eliminated some of the dropped passes that plagued us earlier in the year.

But none of that happened so there's no use torturing yourself over it.

I thought that last year, boy was I wrong!

Mett was in need of time to get insinc with the rec. core and the team. He just needed SEC experience.

Miles was RIGHT not to play him 1-9 he was not ready!

However, Miles had ample time to play him during the season but did not give him the quality time
he needed.

He would not have been ready on 1-9 but could have been better prepared for this season. We might have avoided the Florida loss and maybe the Bama Loss had he given him signifigant playing time last year.

Miles continues to do the same thing. Rivers never gets in. If we are up by 30 going into the fourth Rivers should come in and throw the ball.

I am not convinced that was on him.

The light didn't just pop on vs Bama, other things have changed as well.

Mett's play in the first 7 games leaves no doubt as to why he didn't play last year. He has just now caught up with the game, is learning some pocket presence, and has just started to scramble a little. Did you not watch the first half of the season? I fully understand why he didn't play last year. Let it go, the best that we had was out there last year.

The OP was poorly worded. I wasn't implying that Mett should have played on Jan 9th. I was trying to say that Jarrett Lee should have played and we should have thrown the ball. Obviously Lee had the experience of playing for a few years, so if some of the 4 weeks before the NC game was dedicated to developing some passing game plan with Lee as a back up plan (in case running into Bama's gut with JJ didn't work, you know?), the result could have been different. Even if we didn't, at least we wouldn't have been sitting here left wondering - what if?

Bama was ready for us and flat out beat our arse. That's all there is to it. I don't think drew Brees could have saved us.
