or do we have to be thinking 10 and 6?
Looking at our schedule, and our D, I think we have a shot at 9 and 7. Any chance the NFC allows a team with that record in this year. I know at this point, it's a long shot but it would be nice...

Here's what I've always said regarding the playoffs and post season...

If you look at it...really look at it, the Saints are always given a route into the playoffs. The thing is, they have to take care of their business.

Worry about winning and the rest will take care of itself.

This. And what in the hell are the bucs doing? Winning and shite. They are in the way. We have to knock them off with the sweep or they need to drop a few games.

We can legitimately go 5-1 in the division this year. Which would be awesome.

4-2 is i think our bottom. The falcons in ATL will be tough and like the game Sunday it really can go either way. But the Bucs and Panthers have to come into the Dome. So i think we win both of those.

I was about to post this same question.

9-7 should get us in. I'll say this, if we go 9-7 and DON'T get in, this season will still be considered a monumental success and momentum going into next year will be huge.

I was a huge doubter of this team after their 0-4 start, but since then they've gone 4-1, and all with a defense that gives up so many yards its staggering.

Breesus agrees with Zombie

As long as we win both divisional games left in the season at home. Especially the Carolina game in the Dome to end the season. If we miss the playoffs winning that game is the key to keeping high spirits and momentum into next season.

Inches are the only thing that matter. Not yards. They went like 90 yards in that game, marched all the way down the field and the D kept them out the endzone. And its like the third time our D did that this season. When it matters and when we need it our D has been stepping up huge.

The Seahawks, Vikings, Bucs, and Cowboys are now in our way. We're currently the 10th seed.

We'll take out the Bucs and Cowboys for sure.

It's those damn Seahawks and Vikings that I'm worried about!

The Vikes have to play Chicago and Green Bay twice.

Their next two are at Chicago and at Green Bay.

They also have to go to Houston.

Seattle is more problematic. The good news is that they have only won one road game this year (@ Carolina). The bad news is that they only have three road games left (Miami, Chicago, and Buffalo).

Still, if we win out, we should be in at 11-5. 9-7 means we need a lot of help.

How crazy focused is CSP gonna be going into next year having to sit and watch this season without being able to do anything about it? I bet he ordered legal pads in bulk for the suspension. The rest of the league should be very, very worried.

We have to split with the 49ers and Falcons and then beat everyone else to get to 10-6.

That's gonna be hard. The Cowboys and Giants games on the road will be tough. And the Bucs always give us problems.

We would have to go 3-2 in those 5 games just to reach 9-7.

I love the Saints but I think the playoffs are still a longshot.

I don't know. If we make 9-7 it's going to come down to some serious tie breakers. However, if by some chance make it to 10-6, I think we have a good chance to win it outright. Honestly Seattle, Tampa, and Minny are our 3 biggest competitors right now. Luckily we can give Tampa another loss on the way

I've been trying to not think about next season because this one is still alive and well, but if we don't come out and dominate next year with CP back, I'll be highly surprised.

NFC South- Falcons

NFC North- Green Bay

NFC West- 49ers

NFC East- Giants

Wild Card 5 Seed- Bears

The way I see it this is the most likely scenario, meaning we have to worry about the Seahawks/Vikings

The Vikings schedule is tough, they will lose 4+ games. No need to worry about them

The Seahawks schedule is easy, probably lose 2-3 of their remaining games putting them at 10-6 or 9-7. But 6 or 7 of their losses would be conference losses, so we could potentially win that tie-breaker

First thing is first, we gotta win alot of tough games going forward.

We are 1 game under .500 and are currently tied for 9th in the NFC with Detroit, Dallas and Arizona.

Let's get a winning record before we start talking playoffs.

Games going forward:

@ Raiders - Hopefully they build off the momentum and bring it to 5-5

vs 49ers - I didn't like this one earlier, but they just lost Alex Smith. That can only help.

@ Falcons - Coin Flip
@ Giants - We seem to have their number and Andy Dalton shredded em last night. What would Breesus do?
vs Bucs - Always tough, and they are a solid team. Coin flip.
@ Cowboys - If we keep playing like we did Sunday, I like us in this game.
vs Panthers - Could be an extremely interesting game to close out the season. Lets hope for a replay of 2011

From behind my black and gold glasses I say if the team continues to perform like they have the past two weeks, then we have a legit shot at running the table, or possibly only dropping 1-2 games.

That puts us anywhere from 11-5 to 9-7. At 9 wins we will probably need some help getting in the playoffs. At 11 wins, we're in.

IMO: If we beat the Giants and SF, then we control our own destiny.

Screw that. 0-4 made a lot of non bandwagoners jump off, we need to jump back on early enough so no one notices and calls us bandwagoners
