I dont think Leach did a damn thing wrong and if thats whats keeping Leavitt from being hired, thats foolish.

Kids are turning into babies these days instead of football players and parent taking up for them.

If I would have been Craig James and that was my own son playing for Leach at Texas Tech, I would have told my son to stop being a pussy and do what his coach says. Unreal the pussification of cvollege football is becoming...

Jim Tressel would be a great hire. He was in trouble for only 2,600 dollars of tattoos.

One thing to consider, having been trouble with the NCAA! I would highly doubt he would get in trouble again.

Jim Tressel would also embody all the alumini and traditions of The University of Tennessee and the fans and alumni would love him and yes, he would wear an orange sweater vest.

Tuberville is the play for Tennessee

They need someone proven in the SEC.

ETA: Tuberville will have his choice of Tennessee or Arkansas.

uh... no,,, He got in trouble for covering up trouble rather than disciplining his players.

Tressel was a great coach, but he knowingly played ineligible players. No way to overlook that after firing Bruce Pearl for lying to the NCAA.

How about blackmailing his players into coming back or he would not let them play in Sugar Bowl? I though that was the 1 of the worst things I've ever heard a coach do?

I certainly don't think Tennessee can justify hiring him.

Tennessee needs a great coach with a squeaky clean image. They can't hire a guy like Tressel or Petrino. Not after Kiffin and Pearl.

Gruden is a great top choice, and I think Patterson's a pip dream, but you have to ask. Charlie Strong is one hell of a consolation prize if those first two fall through. He'd be a great coach at Tennessee. He'd actually be my #2 choice, behind Patterson, who I think isn't leaving TCU for anything save maybe the Texas job.

I don't see Gruden at UT or any other college program. You see these "inside sources" say it's Gruden but I seriously doubt he would even entertain an offer. I also agree in Patterson being a pipe dream as well. He is the TCU program and I don't see him leaving just yet after building that program to it's current status. Strong has come out and stated that he is loyal to Louisville, but, you know how that goes. I think UT can give him a lot to think about and if UT pushed hard enough, may be able to get him to Knoxville. Personally, I will take Strong at his word and think he stays another year or two at Louisville. For UT I think the realistic list would be:

Tuberville
Taggert
Fitzgerald
Calhoun
Smart
Dabo

If not Jim Tressel, I believe Pat Fitzgerald would be a great hire at Tennessee. He is probably one the most underrated and under-appreciated coaches in the country.

tubbs is not coming to arkansas.

first, he has royally pissed off long in 2007 when he flirted with us and then changed his mind and got a pay raise via auburn. secondly, he slapped his coach. you don't fire a coach who fricked his sereatry and hire a coach who slapped his assistant.

I agree completely. That said, I think Tennessee has their guy.

Butch Davis, no way Gruden goes to Tenn. Strong to Auburn, and Saban to Dallas or cleveland.

From what I understand, this is the order of preference. Confirmed that Tennessee has contacted the first 4 through intermediaries.

Arkansas will out class Tennessee once again.
