lets the Bush era tax cuts expire, broadens the tax base, and cuts spending across the board. Brings us closer to balancing the budget. Of course it is going to renew the recession, as balancing the budget will do, but it does what needs to be done. Whats wrong with that? We can't just keep putting off balancing the budget.

yeah we have an economy on steroids like with clinton. no way raising taxes will hurt anybody right? 
i guess you failed to research the reagan and kennedy tax cuts right???

You think increasing taxes will have any substantial positive impact on the deficit and debt?
Also, what budget are you talking about?

I think most people are all for Clinton level tax.
IF
We have spending at the same level.
I won't hold my breath on that though.

we definitely need to broaden the tax base at the lower end, but everyone is going to have to make some sacrifices, not just the lower end of the economic spectrum.

If the debt is a safe you are trying to break into, spending cuts is a stick of dynamite and tax increases is a black jack fire cracker.

I agree. I have no problem going over the fiscal cliff. I'd rather go over it now than to continue to kick the can down the road indefinitely. Something has to be done now.

of course it is going to lead to a recession. Balancing the budget will lead to a recession. But better to have a contolled recession than the economic freefall that will occur if we continue down this path.
