Ranked in the USA Today poll. How would they match up with John Curtis?

Anyone have any info or see them play? Only 3 teams in the USA Today poll from the Deep South. John Curtis and Hoover are the other two. How would Picayune match up?

They are a new addition to the regional football powers. I think they had a lot of influx from Louisiana after Katrina.

Picayune is usually good but they slide classifications everytime. Maroon Tide usually rolls 4A when with Stan, Bay, Stone, Forrest. When in 5 they struggle some with the Gulfport schools.

They just went undefeated in 5A and beat defending 6A champ, Petal, early in the season. Blowing teams out. I am just looking at their schedule though. I have not seen them play or know how they would stack up against other powers.

I'm thinking their coach has been there for a million seasons and they are a running team. They are the Maroon Tide and their unis kinda look like Bama. It smells in their stadium. That's the extent of my knowledge.

Picayune got smashed in Katrina, not as bad as the Bay or the Pass

They've kinda always been a top team. Usually always in the playoffs. They have just gotten better this season. I'm not sure why.

Yeah, but a ton of Chalmatians moved up there after the storm.

That seems to happen a lot. Not a lot to do in a town? Football and girls basketball is usually in beast mode.

The Bay really took it on the chin. 43/603 was a mess for more than a year.

I work in the PIC three days a week. Mostly undeserved community and meth heads running rampant. However they are proud of their football team and I know they won the state championship last year. But don't go there unless you have to, miserable hick town

I know I never came back to live. I loved it there but was a decision I had to make. Sometimes, I wonder I should've rebuilt. I still own the lot.

Yeah... but Paul's King Cakes are the best. And I love "stand up dumpster diving" at Hudson's... then a pulled-pork bacon cheeseburger at Hardee's.

This.

Picayune has grown post-Katrina.

It's still meh but the population influx has helped - theres a decent amount of new development. Football talent has increased due to transplants.

Defending 5A champs and will win it again this season. They haven't really been challenged the entire season.

They rush for about 400 yards per game. I saw them play once last season and once this season. Nothing flashy, just really hard to stop. They'll lull you to sleep with the run then attack with the QB.

so getting kids from a shitty Chalmette team would make them nationally ranked? I don't buy Katrina making them better

we were 19-1 in the regular season right before Katrina and made it to round 2 both years...

Pearl River Central has our coach from those years... their game against Picayune was a 21-20 defeat and they finished 9-1...

Bassfield is extremely overrated. I've seen them in person as well. They will win 2A easily, but wouldn't stand a chance against higher competition like many think
