prestashop & magneto are a few that are standing out. quite a few other options available such as :

jcow
aef
gallery
moodle
whmcs
dolphin
mybb
smf
drupal
phpbb
opencart
wordpress
& joomia

seems like this would be something best asked in the technology board but someone hasn't been blessed with access in that board yet ..... anyway. if anyone has an established website and is making money with it can you suggest a decent resolution???

well you would have to pay to have whatever service you pick hosted.... if you pick a quality server it can add up.

if you're new to online web development ill be honest... its going to take you way more time and effort than you think to get that stuff set up... normal website does not equal e-commerce store... its a PITA. volusion helps it some what simple.

If you're a small business and don't have a lot of resources to burn, why not go with something like an Intuit small business solution?

Intuit web suite

Not the most elegant solution, $60 a month and you can get all the tools you need.

i assume this means you already have a server to do the hosting..

yes if you build it you can host it there.... didnt realize u already paid for hosting...

ETA: volusion is a good value for someone looking for a basic e-commerce store with little build time on their part... that also provides hosting.

As far as making the site themeforest has great templates for wordpress and a few of the other sites. In cpanel in fantastico or whatever the hell the script prog is you can install wordpress in minutes. I learned how to make a wamp database and install in on my computer, the. Realised how easy it was.

As far as ecommerce, shopify i think has some and there are some shopping cart setvices, maybe even pay pal has some. There are also shopping cart plugins for wp that you can prob buy, but id search forums for the best one.
