10-2 with a Sugar bowl appearance would be a successful season.

I'm aware that LSU is an elite program which should compete for a NC every year. We have a depth of talent which is secon to none.
However, if we are able to get to 10 wins an a BCS bowl in the face of losing so many to injury and attrition, combined with numerous controversies surrounding current and former players, that should be considered a huge success.
There are few, if any, other teams in college football who could remain competitive in the face of such adversity.

Not to mention if we close out strong, next year with Mett having a full year of SEC under his belt, with a couple of added weapons, and a reloaded defense, this team could be the team to beat next season!

Agreed.

Considering we lost TM7, 3 starting O-Linemen, and our starting RB.

I know we are stacked at RB, but Blue absolutley deserved the starting job. I hope he returns 100%.

I disagree. We would need to win the Sugar Bowl, then I would agree.

What are we looking like without Sam and Keke? Obviously Freak will need to step up big time, but who should we be looking for on the D Line next year?

the problem is that only 2 sec teams will get a bcs bid. probably be the two teams in atlanta. and then you have the undefeated or one loss teams from the other conferences. THE BEST TEAMS DON'T MAKE THE BCS BOWLS. the system will allow the big east pretender and the acc pretender to go even if we would crush their arse.

Edwards will keep the DE spot in good shape, but we won't have 2 of my favorite players to watch. KiKi and Sam will be gone, sad times.

With a Sugar bowl win would be a good season.

LSU vs Irish Sugar Bowl book it.

I wish somehow Alabama would lose to Georgia in SEC championsip game, but not happening sad to say. So Georgia will fall to Peach Bowl. Happened to us when we lost in 2006 to Georgia in championship game, fell all the way to Peach bowl. 1. You don't lose late. 2. End of the year most bowl committees already picked teams so the loser of the SEC championship game is screwed, especially when 5 SEC teams in top 10 and only 2 can go to BCS bowl.

Florida will lose to Florida State and knock them out of BCS hunt and go to Capital One or Outback. If this doesn't happen we are screwed. Sugar bowl will pick florida over the home state boys because Florida fans traveling means hotel rooms are filled etc.

South Carolina will play in Capital One or Outback.

Texas A&M will play Texas in Cotton Bowl.

Rest of the bowls, who cares.

Logan, Downs, Freak, Hunter, Ego, Allen, Rasco, Maclin. All on the D Line... they will be beast!

With Logan having a decent, not great year, I think he returns. Maybe we get lucky and Mingo comes back as well, be we'll see..

As nice as that would be, I couldn't look the kid in the eye and tell him it would be smart to come back. He needs to take the money and run. If this season has taught us anything, it's that careers can be ended in the blink of an eye.

If we win out I think this season would have to considered a success in light of all the shite that has happened.

I realize that Cap 1 is considered more prestigious than Cotton but I hate the Cap 1. Unless something has changed, playing early in the day on that dogshit field is no fun.

Bowl preference: Sugar, Cotton, Peach, Cap 1.

i want to go to the sugar but i want bama to not go to the NC. and sugar can't happen without bama winning out.

wouldn't mind this yr being the year LSU goes to a different BCS bowl besides sugar. that's also a long shot.

FWIW the cap 1 bowl changed the turf to the fake grass like the superdome has.. Although I hate that game as well and love the Cotton Bowl much more....
