Bumped this thread to add the One Big Thing segment and for those who missed the opening segment as well
Opened the show just raving about the environment saying he never could have anticipated how amazing the spectacle was going to be.
Said it was "remarkable what that environment is like" and "two days later I'm still thinking about what it felt like inside Tiger Stadium"
Also singing the praises of Mett saying he played out of his mind
"There is no environment that is going to tax you anymore than that one could, NONE"- unfortunately he said this while praising AJ and Bama as a championship team for responding with that drive in such a hostile setting
Rusillo basically said "I was nervous about building this up for you too much", but nothing could have been built up too much for what we saw Saturday night (paraphrased that last part)
Rusillo spent most of his time praising AJ responding in such a tough situation
ALSO SAID HE IS SAVING HIS "FLOWERY PROSE" DESCRIBING IT FOR HIS ONE BIG THING SEGMENT LATER IN THE SHOW
ETA: ONE BIG THING SEGMENT
SVP basically gushed over Baton Rouge and Tiger Stadium and the LSU Tigers for 5 solid minutes.
Started off blaring "Calling Baton Rouge" - talked about hearing the Tiger Rag and said it was AWESOME
Apologized to Madison, Wisconsin and said "FOR THREE HOURS ON SATURDAY NIGHT, I DON'T KNOW THAT THERE HAS EVER BEEN AN ATMOSPHERE IN SPORTS THAT I HAVE BEEN A PART OF THAT WAS AS MEMORABLE TO ME"
"I have never seen something that felt like that, or heard something that was as sustained as that."
Praised Spencer Hall's article after the 2007 Florida game and said he was absolutely right
"I don't know what boudin is but I want some now. I think they put bourbon on their toothbrush"
"What we saw Saturday night, is something that won't soon leave me. Just cause I felt so incredibly fortunate to be there on a night when they were playing with their pride on the line, after what happened in the title game. They wanted to prove a point to Alabama, and they did ALL of that. LSU was the better team. Even Saban said that after the game."
"It was better than I was told it was."
"Yall did it as good as it can be done."
"There is nothing beyond it. There is nothing that I have seen that I would put ahead of it in any sport."
"Just in terms of the vibe, and what it was, it is SEARED IN MY BRAIN."

I love SVP and RR. Best show on ESPN radio without a doubt. I still don't know why it's not "The Scott van Pelt and Ryan Rusillo show". As much as SVP is off doing other things, RR should at least have shared billing.

pretty sure they've rebranded it to this relatively recently.

Fwiw, that was just the 5 minute intro, sounds like they're going to talk a whole lot more about it throughout the show, and SVP said it will be his topic on the ONE BIG THING segment

I walked past Rusillo right after the fumbled punt the 2nd half and he just looked at me like he had never experienced the atmosphere he was in, insanity

I hate Bama but SVP is spot on about AJ and this Bama team. LSU punched 'em right in the mouth and they responded. Brilliantly. Everyone's fawning over Oregon's offense and the ND defense right now but I think the Tide made their championship statement on Sat night.

Imagine how insane it would've been had we won.

Oh well then shite. Good for RR, and I apparently don't pay as good attention as I should be
