2004 in Baton Rouge #17 LSU over Alabama 26-10
2005 in Tuscaloosa #5 LSU over #4 Alabama 16-13 in OT
2006 in Baton Rouge #12 LSU over Alabama 28-14
2007 in Tuscaloosa #3 LSU over #17 Alabama 41-34
2008 in Baton Rouge #1 Alabama over #15 LSU 27-21 in OT
2009 in Tuscaloosa #3 Alabama over #9 LSU 24-15
2010 in Baton Rouge #12 LSU over #5 Alabama 24-21
2011 in Tuscaloosa #1 LSU over #2 Alabama 9-6 in OT
2012 in New Orleans #2 Alabama over #1 LSU 21-0
2012 in Baton Rouge #1 Alabama over #5 LSU 21-17

LSU 6 wins, Alabama 4 wins including the HUGE one

3 OT games

Total Points Scored LSU 201 Alabama 191

Average score LSU 20.1 Alabama 19.1

Average margin of victory 8.6 points

6 games went down to the last possession

Average ranking at time of game LSU #8 Alabama #8.7 (using #26 for unranked Bama in 2004 and 2006)

AND, the most interesting statistic, the 'home' team record is 4-6.

THIS is what a RIVALRY is all about. I know most Tiger fans really don't like Alabama, but most of us do respect the competitiveness of the best matchup in college football since 2007.

It's always going to be a war when these two teams go head-to-head.

I could have gone back a few more years and the closeness would still exist. I went with 2004 since that began the new 'post-Championship' era of LSU football IMO. Meaning that LSU got to the top of the mountain that Alabama had been to several times, and they now had the goal of staying near the top and returning a few times.

The entire BCS era:

November 7, 1998 Baton Rouge, LA Alabama 22–16
November 6, 1999 Tuscaloosa, AL Alabama 23–17
November 4, 2000 Baton Rouge, LA LSU 30–28
November 3, 2001 Tuscaloosa, AL LSU 30–14
November 16, 2002 Baton Rouge, LA Alabama 31–0
November 15, 2003 Tuscaloosa, AL LSU 27–3
November 13, 2004 Baton Rouge, LA LSU 26–10
November 12, 2005 Tuscaloosa, AL LSU 16–13OT
November 11, 2006 Baton Rouge, LA LSU 28–14
November 3, 2007 Tuscaloosa, AL LSU 41–34
November 8, 2008 Baton Rouge, LA Alabama 27–21OT
November 7, 2009 Tuscaloosa, AL Alabama 24–15
November 6, 2010 Baton Rouge, LA LSU 24–21
November 5, 2011 Tuscaloosa, AL LSU 9–6OT
January 9, 2012 New Orleans, LA Alabama 21-0
November 3, 2012 Baton Rouge, LA Alabama 21-17

LSU has a 9-7 lead and 2 NC's, nothing to be ashamed of. But yeah, the trend is not very good.

I remember that game, Russell was flawless. It was probably one of the best recent history performances by an LSU QB. That and the Moo State game in 2006 also, where I think Russell had like 300 yards and 3 TDS in the FIRST HALF!!

I agree. I see no reason why Bama would win the next 4. I mean we just dominated their greatest bestest team EVAH on national TV. People were proclaiming as an NFL caliber team for god's sake, and we brought it to them all night (except for the last 2 minutes ).

RIP old man.
