Not a fan of Star? Manti?

I think we need some defensive Pacific islanders on this squad in a bad way...

I didn't like what i read about him last night, some scouts were very underwhelmed with him this year. Basically all the talent in the world that seems to be wasted. Very inconsistent... don't work someone that doesn't know how to work hard consistently (SullY)

Lofton Part 2? We already have that type player... am i wrong?

I think Manti is significantly better than Lofton personally.

Yes, he's bar none the best pure pass rusher in the draft. He's got good football instincts. He's a little light but continuing to put on mass while maintaining his quickness. I see him possibly being a michael strahan type player, a player Spags can do all sort of things with him in the short term but in long term, i think Mingo has a bright future as both a 4-3 De or 3-4 OLB.

possibly, but we did sign lofton to a 5 yr deal. Manti does nothing for our D in terms of creating a pass rush or improving our main Rush D.

maybe so. but I feel like he is exactly the type of player Spags can use.

eta: I'm not being an LSU homer like most are. I hate those people who think we need to draft our entire lsu defense.

He's a late blooming junior with a nice frame. 240# and i can easily see him adding a healthy 10-15 more#'s. I don't see it as a problem at all. Strahan i think was 250 ish most of his career.

I'm not either. Mingo is the best pure pass rusher and he always shows good instincts on the field. Notice Montgomery's name wasn't on my list.

I doubt mingo is able to put on much more weight.

you're on it pretty good

still no real clue to the range where the pick might be tho. A lot of diff who you're looking at towards the top end with 5 or less wins versus 8+ wins at mid round

I'd add to the watchlist:

Sean Porter OLB TXAM
Sam Montgomery DE LSU
Jackson Jeffcoat DE TX

everyone is screaming defense of course but it is possible OT Luke Joeckel TXAM might be a can't pass on pick (see the LSU game).

Yes,There are 1 or 2 OT's that I think the saints could pull the trigger on. I wouldn't be upset about it if some of these Defense guys are gone... I'm almost on the Tank Train.

Are you considering 10-15 pounds much more weight? He'll never be a 265 type guy but I don't think we'd want him to be either.
