I just finished the book. Is it worth seeing the movie or is it nowhere near as good as the book?

It's not as good, but its worth a look.

if you thought the book was great, then you'll probably like the movie..

Well considering the book was an amazingly poorly written piece of shite I actually enjoyed the movie a bit better.
Cool premise with absolutely zero execution, character development, or literary worth. And yes I know it was a kids book.

Book and movies are alright. Great premise just wasted on a kid friendly author

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.
The one redeeming quality of there series is how fricked up the protoganist becomes.
It's more realistic IMO when they make the best of the hand dealt to them rather than the best case scenario fall in their lap.

it was alright. It was good then kind of got stale the last 20 minutes or so.

Very watchable movie. Didn't realize they made a book out of it.

you should watch it because of Jennifer Lawrence

The 3rd book sucks/left a lot to be desired. I enjoyed the movie but it left some of the details out that were in the book, which was expected.

I actually enjoyed the movie. My wife wanted to see it. I was expecting something very Twilightish, but it turned out to be pretty good.

This may be weird, but I think she is one of the most beautiful women working in the business. Yeah I know a lot of people say she's a little chubby, but I like a girl with a bit of meat on her bones. Not fat or chubby, but someone who certainly wouldn't be mistaken for being anorexic.

I read the books over the summer and sat down to watch the movie a few weeks ago and I didn't even finish it.

Pretty much how I felt about the books. It's a great premise in the hands of a terrible author. Much of the compelling action happens off the page in books 2 and 3. The movies can improve the story in that respect.

I thought the film sucked balls.

SPOILERS....NOT THAT IT MATTERS
exactly. I read these 3 pretty quickly in 2 days while on a long trip with little else at my disposal. Absolutely inexcusable to have the big mission to rescue Peeta and the denouement of the love triangle all be resolved in about 2-3 paragraphs each.
Oh no Peeta is held hostage by the evil capital...we better go rescue him. After a long and hard journey the team brought Peeta back!
Likewise, oh Gale really wanted to kill the capital folks, oh no my sister died in a bomb. Gale got a sweet gig at the capital. I guess I love crazy/non crazy Peeta WAY more now!
Just horrendous writing. I feel like the movie actually gave the setting/characters some semblance of life compared to the books where everything took a backseat to the main character simply being angry.
