Any chance we have some option/read type plays for Bolden v. Bama?

Bolden actually played almost the entire game against Bama last year at Penn State so he is very familiar with their personnel and tendencies. He has tons of game experience so it wouldn't be like bringing someone totally green out there. It would be fairly unexpected so it might take Bama several plays to adjust. And he had some limited success, driving them for their only touchdown (which we never scored against them last year), and rushing 4 times for 25 yards.

I'm not saying he starts or anything. We just know how much the staff loved JJ's ability to move the chains with his feet against what can be a brick wall of a defense, and it worked pretty well in 2010 and last year in Tuscaloosa. JJ had a couple of drive-extending runs last year that were crucial in running the clock and maintaining possession. He might be an interesting change of pace if Mett can't get things going against that defense.

Did Bolden run the option at Penn State? Why not use Ware?

I said the option read. I know he's not a "running" QB, but he is a passing QB who can run, as is evidenced by his better than 6 ypc average against Bama last year. I'm talking about using him for a few plays, say around 10, as a change of pace, especially if the offense gets bogged down and can't run and can't connect to get a boost. As I tried to explain in the OP, I'm not saying by any means he would get even a majority of the snaps.

So if you know he's not an option qb... And you are suggesting he runs an option read... Doesn't this mean his only potential for success would be to hand it off ? I don't know... Do you also think maybe we could see some sort of passing plays for Rivers? this is all just stupid
Oh and I just noticed you highlighted Boldens 6 ypc average against Bama last year. I suppose you think that suggests hes a good passer ? Im confused by everything.

Pls stop.
For all you know, Copeland is a better option QB than Bolden.

i mean all i can see is to line him up as a WR/RB in the wildcat, pitch to bolden, pull up and have him throw deep

With two weeks to prepare I completely agree. He is the only QB on LSU's roster that has played against Bama. He is not a gifted runner but mobile and may be a good option in the red zone similar the way we used RP against Fla in 2007. Give Saban more to worry about in a short travel week of preparation.

No, the option read gives you several options, you can hand it off, you can run it yourself or you can pass it. He's a good enough passer to be a threat to throw the ball. He's a good enough runner to be a threat to run the ball. That's what I'm saying. I'm talking about loosening up the Bama interior.

No, because he doesn't provide a different look like Bolden would.

No, that suggests that he provides a threat to run. Mett provides no threat of running.

Yes, I see that.

He hasn't played all year.

So yeah, we should bring him in for 10 plays in the biggest game of the year.

Fantastic idea.

That move WOULD likely catch Alabama unprepared.
And us.

What are you talking about? Bolden started much of the season last year at quarterback for Penn State and played most of the game against Alabama last year. Bolden was a 4-star QB in both services and was ranked as the No. 2 dual-threat QB in the nation by Rivals in the 2010 class.
