I'm going to be in Dallas this weekend and need a good place to watch the game. Can anyone here from the Dallas area recommend a place with large HD Tv's and good food near the Crescent Hotel. It doesn't have to be near but preferable. Thanks in advance.

There is a free street car on McKinney. Take it up to Frankies or McKinney Avenue Tavern (the "MAT").

If you want to watch with the alumni association the closest watch location is the Press Box downtown. The Crescent's courtesy car will take you. It's within their radius.

Frankies

Not the best place in my opinion to watch a game. TVs are skattered. There's only one true big screen and it's tucked away in a corner.

This is a good place to watch a game TV-wise. But beware, the food isn't even marginal on a good day. The furniture is late 60's garage sale decor. The crowd is a mix of I don't know what. Kind of like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. If you can wait to eat after the game, there are plenty of places that have awesome food not far away.

Another post said Dodie's. This is my personal favorite because I know the owners, live nearby, and love the food. There are nice sized TVs everywhere, but no "big screen." The crowd will be heavily LSU. You can snack your way down the appetizer menu and have a few beers and you'll have a good time. Also, it's a short drive or cab ride from the Crescent.

The Press Club looks like it has a huge HD TV. Have any of you ever been there?

I have not. It is close to the Crescent though.

By the way, if you decide to venture out to Dodie's, there are two on Greenville. For game watching, you'll want the "new" Dodie's Reef. When I'm looking just for food, I usually go to the original, which is down the street.
