Did the BoxTops guy die Monday?

I heard on the car radio Monday that somebody in the Box Tops from Memphis died. I know the lead singer died about 3 years ago, who had moved to New Orleans. I really liked the Box Tops in the late 60's,heard them a few times. Liked them like John Fred and the Playboys. Anyone know who died and their bands status. Thanks.
