LSU is a championship team.....next year

I've come to the conclusion that LSU will be a championship team.....next year. Miles will finish this season with the offensive scheme that we have in place, and then he will quietly tell Studwara and/or Kragthorpe to look for work elsewhere. Then we'll go out and hire a top flight offensive coordinator (and hopefully Les will finally realize he's a good CEO/recruiting guru but he is not a game manager/playcaller). Regardless, we're stuck Les and his contract for a long, long time, so we might as well get used to him.
Mettenberger is what he is, which is an inexperienced QB in the SEC. In many ways, he reminds me of JaMarcus Russell during the '05 season (except JaMarcus had first round talent at WR to help him out). The raw talent is there. The situational awareness will come with more repetition but he's not going to beat Bama in three weeks, especially since he can't be trusted inside the red zone. Marching down the field and settling for field goals won't beat a Nick Saban-coached team.
The offensive line played much better last night. We had no choice but to insert two freshmen into the lineup, and Alexander & Turner both played great. The right side of the line is now a strength instead of a liability. Next year, we will knock people off the field when Chris Faulk is healthy at LT.
The stable of RBs are great, especially when they have some holes to run through. The WRs did nothing to change my opinion that this is the worst receiving corps at LSU since the mid-90s. None of these guys can consistently separate from coverage or catch the ball when they're open. We really, really miss Rueben Randle. He could have made Mettenberger's growing pains less severe. We have to recruit some big, explosive wideouts and get them on the field ASAP.
I will always have faith in a John Chavis-coached defense, as long as Les provides him with the athletes and a long leash.
But the team we have right now isn't good enough to beat Bama on November 3. I just hope they keep fighting for the rest of the season. 10-2 would probably be good enough for the Sugar Bowl or a very nice game on New Year's Day. Geaux Tigers!

No way dude. We just beat the #3 team in the nation. If you beat Bama (who we get at HOME), you're in the drivers seat to the title game.

What a tard. We manhandled their defensive line which is probably better than Alabama's. If we can keep those 2 DEs out of our backfield for USC, than we sure as hell will keep Bama's out as well.

Not drivers seat, but close. Will need help.

No problem regarding most.......the cupboard is far from empty and with the youth that the Tigers have who are gaining valuable experience, next year should be better than this season. I'm not saying "a championship team", but I do think it will be a better all around team (offense, defense and special teams...).

Not sure why you feel "stuck" with Miles.
He's 81-19.

Man some lsu fans downright suck including this fast Eddie guy. Lsu just beat the number 3 team in the country in a fun an exciting game and this guy is already looking to next year an has written this year off. I never thought I'd see the day that fans can't enjoy a win and look forward to the remaining games this season.
Fast Eddie your a dufus that just rehashed the same crap we read here every day. Your thoughts are not new or unique but your free to express them but your thoughts suck.
And I rather be stuck with les miles than someone that always under achieves like Mack Brown. Even if we end up 10-2 I thank that is pretty damn good in the sec. I remember when we couldn't win shite.

Look I was critical of LSU last week, but give Miles some props, he made necessary adjustments to go from a loss to a win against a national champ contender.

Including starting an all new o line. I was probably over critical of fast eddies post but lsu has some really good games coming up. I don't think any team will score enough on our d to put us out of a game. If we can score tds in the redzone and catch a few more passes I don't see why lsu does not have a chance this year.
I, just not ready to write this year off because as you said miles made the adjustments needed to gut out a win on a very good team. The same thing he did last year. I still have hope.
