Patterns, Trends and Frustrations

With all of the ranting on this board between "positigers" and "negatigers" (I don't agree with either term)' it occurred to me that many are missing the big picture - the patterns and trends that are indisputable and are leading to frustration in the LSU fan base. The pattern is simple:
Year Off. Def. record
2007. 26. 3. 12 - 2 (MNC)
2008. 54. 36 8 - 5
2009. 108. 28. 9 - 4
2010. 92. 8. 11 - 2
2011. 75. 2. 13 - 1
2012. 75. 3. 5 - 1
The trend is that our defense was good under Pelini, dropped off and then has become exceptional under Chavis. Our offense after Crowton's first year has been pathetic and is showing no sign of improvement.
The frustration is that LSU clearly recruits elite talent. With proper coaching that talent can perform at elite levels (defense under Chavis). It is frustrating that the offense hasn't performed at that level. The frustration mounts when you see that LSU's offensive performance has plummeted this year against the two SEC teams that we've played, so the 75 ranking will likely fall as we play out the SEC schedule.
I think that most fans believe that LSU has top flight offensive talent that is seriously under performing because of coaching.
Looking at the numbers, if LSU could improve to just an average offense, they would be almost unbeatable with this defense.
