Just got down and had deer blowing every fricking where. Great. Whats is the OB take on deer seeing/detecting you getting out of your stand. Do you think it spooks them off the area? I may give that spot a few days to cool down.

I actually blew back at them. It was pitch dark and I had the wind on them. I should have employed the squatch howl though.

I did see 5. Had two little bucks sparring. Been waiting on a good 8 I saw opening morning, but I am gonna switch to meat mode and shaft some of these slickheads.

If they actually see you get down they will be on edge when they come through the area and will bust you a lot easier, but they shouldn't leave the area(unless its a mature buck)

I will either snort wheeze at them (usually runs them off) or use a coyote howl app on my phone (almost always runs them off) to get them to leave.

Just got home, here is the story and keep in mind i have never killed a deer with my bow.

6:50 two deer come in about 60 yds, i stand up and get ready. Legs shaking like i cant control it, artery in my neck about to bust. I tell myself to calm down. I cant, well deer go out of sight. It is only 2 deer and i could see one had small set of horns and other nothing. I have been getting pics regular of a doe and a little 3 point running together. So my plan is to shoot 2nd deer if given chance. 7:05 rolls around getting very dark. First deer pops up 20 yards broad side and easiest shot in world. But i didnt wana take a 3 point. Well he walks 15 yds in front of me and cheast facing me eating.. Well he drops his head and i see plain as day 6 points i have a 6 point on camera and said i would shoot him with my bow, would be a great first bow kill. But he isnt giving me the shot and its getting very dark now. All of a sudden i see other deer, i say frick it, ima shoot this doe! When it steps 20 yds i see two dam points on its head and im no spike killer so im pissed as hell because this 6 point dick wont turn broad side. Well he finally does about 7:50 an i can not even see him through my peep site. So i hang my bow up and sit there. Upset, pissed, excited, all kinds of emotions goin on. Well then it gets crazier. I see two more images appear in my oats eating so i have 4 deer in my plot "and i have several pictures of a bachelor group with a very nice 8 and a stud 11 point. So now i do not wana spook these deer at any cost so i sit tight. Then a dam coyote or fox i cant make it out what the hell it is comes sneaking in and one of the deer charge it and run it off, then it does it again, and again! Its like a free for all going on under me. All this at 15-20 yards. Now its pitch dark and all i can do is see my ir camera taking pics like a boss! And hear deer crunching down. Finally at 7:30 i hear no more crunching and camera stopped. So i waited 10 more min and eased down and snuck out quietly! So still no bow kill or me

Moral of the story... Take friggn binoculars! Could have killed the 6 point if i had binoculars when he came in to see whats on his head! But maybe it worked out for the best, because if one of those other 2 deer that came in was my 11 point i will be relieved i didnt take that 6 point and spook him in the process.

Naw i didnt want to go in the plot and leave scent and/or spook deer if it was there. I eased out the back way and will hunt again tomo after work. I will pull the card this weekend. Dang that was a rush though. Im kicking myself for not shooting the 6 point but im telling myself it may have been best

I can see! Last year was my first year. All i had a chance to shoot was a spike and im no spike killer so on to this yr! Tody was the first time i ever drew back on one and wow i have killed some pretty good deer with gun but i could not calm myself down haha. And this was over a little 6 point. I really was so weak in the knees i almost had to sit back down! Thought i was about to stroke out!! My artery in my neck was pulsing like crazy! Just a rush for sure! Im hooked and hadnt even killed one lol

think about the old days when there were no "arrow holders" or biscuits or any thing except a rest... that arrow would get to shaking and going off the rest at about a 45 degree handle, fall off the rest and hit your bottom climber part, etc. etc. etc. etc...

It takes about 5 years of mistakes to get good at Bowhunting.. I've killed some great deer with my bow, but its a sport of hard nocks..(pun). When to stand, when to draw, deer behavior(do I shoot low), wind, stand placement, when to track(wait an hour, or overnight) scent control, target panic.....Don't get discouraged, its an awesome sport, and just about the only way I hunt deer, now....
