nobody gives a shite about Clemson
Posted on 10/10/12 at 6:47 pm to sctvman
At least they have a big fricking sign that says WELCOME TO DEATH VALLEY.
Posted on 10/10/12 at 6:49 pm to MountainTiger
And right now we would lose.

Maybe Dabo should focus more on not getting 70 points hung on his team in their next bowl game instead of whose stadium is the "real Death Valley"

Then we should have a home-and-home with Clemson. Winner of both games gets to keep the name.
I fricking LOVE this idea.

I'll agree...it is amazing that so many people are interested in Clemson.

no one outside of South Carolina knows that their little stadium is called Death Valley

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was giving a statement today talking about how Clemson football compares to South Carolina, after Steve Spurrier's statement.

Clemson did originate the name Death Valley. It had to do with something and Clemson dealing with a rock from Death Valley in Cal. When I attended LSU, in my college days, our stadium was simply called Tiger Stadium. As far as the song Tiger Rag goes, Clemson stole that from LSU. Tiger Rag originated in New Orleans.

He did. Receivers coach forever at Bama.

Actually, originally the name in Baton Rouge was "Deaf Valley" but it later evolved into "Death Valley"...

Tiger Stadium earned the name “Deaf Valley” for the pure sound that can be produced by the crowd. Many times in LSU Tigers history, the deafening crowd is so loud that it can shut down offenses and force penalties on linemen and receivers who cannot hear the snap count. The “Deaf” eventually evolved into “Death” and the name Death Valley stuck. The name is appropriate as Tiger Stadium and its crowd often eat LSU Tigers opponents alive. Death Valley is a tense atmosphere for visiting teams at night as the shadows cast from the lights above and the thousands upon thousands of fans with LSU Tigers tickets bombard their senses. The decibels really get ratcheted up when hated rivals like the Auburn Tigers or Florida Gators come to town.
