Flair Chops
AV Club's top 50 films of 90s

10. Being John Malkovich (1999)
9. Rushmore (1998)
8. Unforgiven (1992)
7. Reservoir Dogs (1992)
6. Out Of Sight (1998)
5. Chungking Express (1994)
4. Dazed And Confused (1993)
3. Toy Story 2 (1999)
2. Pulp Fiction (1994)
1. Goodfellas (1990)

Fargo, Office Space, A Perfect World, Awakenings, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, The Ref, A Christmas Carol (Patrick Stewart), American Beauty, The Fugitive, Titanic, Gattaca, Good Will Hunting, Magnolia were all better than most of the Top Ten.

And the Piece de Resistance:
'The Shawshank Redemption' just may go down as one of the Top Ten films ever made, not just in the 1990s.
'Fargo' 'Office Space' and 'A Perfect World' are three of my other favorites from the '90's, along with 'GoodFellas.'
But 'Shawshank' is in my top 5 of all time, along with The Day The Earth Stood Still, Cool Hand Luke, It's A Wonderful Life, and Scrooge (1951 Alistair Sim).

Pulp Fiction is SO overrated. Yeah...it's a good movie, but come-the-freak-on! I would have ranked Apollo 13, Schindler's List, and (yes) Forrest Gump over Pulp Fiction. I like Quentin Tarantino but he's not as good as a lot of people think he is.

frick all that noise. Pulp Fiction seems like one of those movies that should be overrated (given the subject matter and the general fan base) but I appreciate the dialogue more with each viewing, I think it deserves its reputation.

I've barely seen half of those films. Thought I knew more about 90s films than I did. Can think of quite a few glaring omissions.

Wow. No love for Apollo 13?
Or the first Pixar movie, Toy Story?

Goodfellas deserves to be in the top 10, I can agree with that.

What about a Time to Kill? A Perfect World? Titanic? Jurassic Park?

Dazed and Confused and Rushmore in the Top 10 in a decade? No.

Good movies, sure. Top 10, no.

The top 10 is decent, but they left out some great movies in their top 50. No Forest Gump, Shawshank, Braveheart, Silence of the Lambs or Saving Private Ryan? You could probably list at least 10 more that could be in the top 50.

I did everything for the kids. And the reception I got when I came out here, you fans can stick it brother. Because if it wasn’t for Hulk Hogan, you people wouldn’t be here. If it wasn’t for Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff would still be selling meat from a truck in Minneapolis. And if it wasn’t for Hulk Hogan, all of these “Johnny come latelys” that you see out here wrestling wouldn’t be here. I was selling the world out brother while they were bumming gas to put in their car to get to high school."
