@Jon Morosi Why did I pick Hamilton to Braves? They have payroll flexibility, could backload deal after '13, may miss McCann to start season

There's a lot of reasons this doesn't make any sense, namely that it would be a serious financial commitment to yet another left-hand bat and a guy about to be on the wrong side of his prime.

Signing Hamilton would be a tremendous mistake for this team, considering our financial restrictions.

What type of package do you guys think it would take to get Jupton?

Would something like Delgado + O'Flaherty + Pastornicky + OF prospect do it?

That gives them at least 2 big league pitching talents, and a serviceable utility option (they have a hole at SS).

One year of EOF at $4M when they already have Putz and Bell in the back end does not really make sense.

They don't have a single good lefty reliever.

With the Royals dropping 12 mil on Ervin fricking Santana, it's clear they think they are ready to "contend."

You also have to factor in our shitty ownership and the fact that Atlanta has quite a lively club/bar scene. Hamilton is an overgrown 6 year old. He has to be babysat 24/7. A lot of that has to come from ownership that has a personal stake in the team and is willing to go out of its way to help him. The chances of him tanking completely for a franchise like ours are very high.

I think he'll sign somewhere somewhat unexpected.

I don't think he'll be a Yankee or Red Sock or something like that.

I'm thinking Milwaukee or Toronto.

I'm warming to the idea of Victorino in CF.

But he's good at baseball.

I loathe victorino but I'd take him in a heartbeat if we somehow got a middle of the order LF and moved MVPrado to 3b. Or get a middle of the order 3b but I don't know of any available.

Know this is not Braves related, but Billy Hamilton ran a 3.49 from the right side on a bunt last night
