I wouldn't mind seeing Mingo play some LB this year

There's no doubt that Mingo is an animal at DE. I just have a feeling he could rotate between DE and LB (also gives Lavar Edwards more PT) and be even more of a force to reckon with. It would definitely help his draft stock, especially since he is more the size of a LB at the NFL level.

I think I saw him stand up to go from 4-3 to 3-4 in the N Texas game and I know he was recruited as a 5-star LB so its not like it's that farfetched. I may be the only one, who knows. Just a thought

ETA: 4-star recruit.. My bad.

There's a package where Lavar, Freak, Bennie and Sam are the down linemen and Mingo and Minter are the LBs w/ 5 DBs. We'll probably see it this weekend. They used it a few times last year.

I would love to see this, just because Lavar Edwards is tearing it up this season. Have Montgomery, Logan, Johnson and Edwards on the line, put Minter, Muncie and Mingo at LB, BOOM!

I would like to see him pass rush without getting in a stance, let him stand up coming off the edge.

My bad, thought I'd read he was a 5 somewhere. Thanks for the correction though

Didn't we use this last weekend once or twice? I like it.

Pretty insane he wasn't a consensus 5 star type with his frame and athleticism, though.

Yeah. One time I saw Lavar @ DE and the other I saw Rasco.

Eh....he'll be an outside LB in the nfl, he's pretty light as an nfl DE.

I completely agree, which is why I believe it would be best for him to play some LB now. But hey, I'm not a coach so I could be wrong. I've been wrong once.

I agree, but hindsight is 20/20. And wasn't he much smaller than he is now? Like 50 lbs smaller?

Won't happen. There is a state law that says all football teams in the state of La. must play quick, fast, athletic 240-250 pound defensive players at DE rather than OLB.

Agreed, I think he'd be a step up at LB and we definitely have a quality backup at the DE position to fill in nicely. Get the best players on the field baby.

It would have to be a special package on passing downs. He is not a linebacker in a 4-3. Watch his high school film of him playing linebacker. He reacts slowly and is kind of tentative.
