I have a DIRECTV satellite and HD receiver. How do I go about setting it all up while tailgating? What else do I need? TIA

Probably a stand or something unless you put the tv on the ground

Do you know the correct azimuth and degrees to target the satellite?

1. Go to dishpointer.com, type in Louisiana State University in the location

2. Drag the icon on the map to exactly where your tailgate is

3. Pick the satellite you want to point to

4. Copy down dish setup data in bottom righthand corner

5. Take your dish and move your dish to the elevation and tilt you wrote down

6. Point your dish to the green line on the map

This will put you extremely close and then you can use the signal strength meter of the receiver to get you dead nuts on.

I have the elevation set to the correct number based on what the DIRECTV website tells me for the zip code. However, how do I get the Tilt setting and how and where do I change the Azimuth setting?

You will nd the bubble level to make sure sat is level or you will never get a signal. We use this Dish Align app. Once you put in Baton Rouge zip code it will give you the correct settings.

Follow my directions to get the numbers you want. The info from the DirecTV site from zip code is not as accurate. You need it from the exact point where you tailgate to make it more accurate/easier on you. Those settings will be transferred to the dish itself. There are graduated lines on the elevation and tilt that you would use to move it to your values by loosing up the nuts on each axis.

well, this Sunday we will be tailgating at the Superdome for the Saints game. What should I do for that location?

How do I get the tilt setting for my satellite? I just went to that website and typed in Superdome and dragged the green icon to exactly where we tailgate and adjusted the elevation setting on my satellite accordingly. How do I do that for the tilt setting though?

Same exact thing, applies anywhere you go.

Type in Superdome New Orleans as location. If you just know the general area around the dome you will set up putting your icon there will still be way better than a general zipcode.

I move mine around all the time, lots of away games, events and it takes me 10 minutes max to get it going. Sat 101 is where all the ESPN HDs are.
