NFL Replay Booth Officials were not replacements

Anybody else catch that? The replay booth officials were not replacements.

So the NFL booth replay official in the Packers/Seahawks game who did not overturn the call was not a replacement.

I wonder why this point has not been made more.

yeah it was that dude who's fricked up every call ever, the Saints fans know his name, I forgot it


dude has been the one to make some of the most controversial calls in NFL history

This isn't college, doesn't the ref on the field make the call after watching the replay?

Because you can't overturn the wrong team catching the ball, only the catch itself. The ball wasn't incomplete so the replay officials couldn't do anything about that.

New rule this year. Official in both calls it with on field.

Yep. The call was simultaneous possession. The replay confirmed the ball was caught (not out of bounds, etc), so the call stood.
