No more decent non conference games at home anymore!

Mississippi State and Oklahoma State are finalizing a deal to open the 2013 season on Aug. 31 at Houston's Reliant Stadium, sources told ESPN.

The game will be the first of what will be a yearly tradition for Reliant Stadium, the home of the NFL's Houston Texans.

Why hasn't NOLA/Sugar Bowl gotten into this. Surpising and disappointing.

LSU has said for years now they want a neutral site game in Hou. Long, long overdue.

I don't see why teams would put their seasons on the line the first week of the season.

I think LSU approached A&M and Texas Tech about a game in Houston but Tech wanted a home and home and A&M was still pissed about the old contract

This does not need to happen.

We don't need schools using that as an opportunity to recruit our state. Especially if the Sugar Bowl committee is involved. Because there is one school in particular that would basically get right of first refusal every since their running back coach's brother is on the committee. I'll let you figure out who that is.

When the four team playoff starts those games will go a long way with a selection committee

Wait a minute----I started a thread a few weeks back about New Orleans doing this and everyone said it would not work because of hurricanes? Well, it is plausible for a hurricane to hit Houston too, right? Also, the first reply on this thread is next stop is Miami. Well if NOLA cannot do it because of hurricanes, Miami definitely cannot. Houston should be okay but there is still a threat.

New Orleans or Miami may be better to do it Week 3, instead of Week 1/Labor Day, but there are still the possibiities of storms. I think both should try it though.

This is probably my new biggest beef about college football. The reason I hate it so much is because of it's inevitability. I HATE neutral site games, but they are going to become more common because they are highly profitable. It is just going to keep going. Pretty soon, Shreveport will have one between ULM and Colorado or something on opening weekend.

What ever happened to good old fahsioned home and homes? My two biggest passions are LSU Football and traveling, so it is natural I want to combine the 2. My wife and I had so much fun in Seattle. I want to see more like that instead of this neutral site BS. Seriously, we can always go on a Saints road trip if we want to see Jerryworld or Reliant. I like college football better and want to see it played in historical type college stadiums.

If they cancel the home and home with Oklahoma in a few years for some netraul site game in Charlotte against Wake Forest or something, I will really be mad.

Not if you are an LSU fan. LSU wants to play in these games to increase their exposure in texas to help in recruiting. Do you want to do the same for other schools in NOLA/Louisiana?

Do we really want the FSU's, USC's, OU's playing regular season games in the dome?

I could see OU becoming a Dallas or Houston type game and eliminating the home and home especially if you have a 9 game sec schedule at that point there is no need to go to Norman

Except for the fact that true (campus/home and home) road games are one of the things that make college football so special.

Instead, now we are subjected to the wonderful college atmosphere of places like Houston, Atlanta and Dallas.

what the hell is the difference between traveling for an away game and traveling for a neutral site game?

and houston is a lot farther from the coast than nola, isn't sandwiched between an ocean, river, and massive lake, and also happens to be above sea level, which tends to help somewhat.

ETA: the only thing i really care about is recuiting texas, and not letting other schools recruit LA

$$$$$$$....exposure....big bump if you win and a close loss to a quality team still gets you sos points. plus....the games are fun and your fans get to travel and style.

anybody...anywhere...anytime.
