Was the "Safety" a gift?

Was the safety against Auburn a gift for not getting the call right on the fumble recovery? Clearly Copeland recovered the fumble and clearly the RB made it out of the endzone.

runners knee went down before he crossed the plane. He ended up outside the endzone but he was down before that. Refs did blow the fumble call.

Yeah, doesn't the entire ball have to clear coming out?

I actually was on the crapper during the safety, so I didn't see the actual play or the slow mo replays, just the replay on LSUsports.net. I was wondering how we got that safety call. But if his knee was, in fact down, that makes sense.
As far as our fumble, just typical JHS officiating.

No one watching on TV saw a good replay so most can't answer.
I was in the stands right in line with the goal line in the lowest section. The runner was falling and the ball/his shoulder hit the ground first behind the goal line. It was the right call.
He could have probably reached out and gotten the ball out of the end zone but he didn't even try to. He just fell with the ball tucked into his body.

And yeah I have no idea how Auburn recovered the fumble. That looked like BS.

The entire ball has to be over the goal line and into the field of play. It was clearly a safety. Not even close. The only gift was us fumbling the ball at the one and not punching it in for 6.

Copeland was the only player on the ground. Replays show him going straight for the ball and you never see it again. He claims to have had it and I think he was right.

Well, dude needs to hold on to the ball then. That's how those scrums work, you get in there and everyone is trying to get the ball from you. If he had it, he shouldn't have given it up.

It seemed like bug eyes saw a bunch of Auburn players pointing that they had the ball and heard the crowd roar so he said frick it, Auburn ball. Copeland clearly came up with it, after the play Copeland walked to the sideline saying "I recovered it" and pointed that we still had the ball.
Besides the safety, The punt that hit off Landry's leg actually hit an Auburn players facemask first on the way down. Another blown call.
