Why didnt they just slowly kill as many walkers as possible through the fence before charging into the prison?

because watching them slowly kill zombies one by one as they walk up to the fence isn't as entertaining to watch as a shootout scene is. Some of you do realize this is a tv show meant to entertain, so at times they will sacrifice realism for it.

An hour long show of them methodically killing zombies would be boring.
The prison killing segments were some of the best done zombie graphics I've seen. My wife and I had dinner with one of the lead make up artist a few weeks ago and it was fun talking to him about the process

Nice, I came into the thread and read only this page, and there are multiple spoilers on this page alone. fricking awesome.

Yeah it's pretty stupid. Some fail to understand that if a question is posed in this non-spoiler thread, it doesnt mean that if you read the comics that you should answer the fricking question. It is posed to others that have no idea what is happening. frick.

Nah, IMO they understand exactly what the spoiler free threads are for. It's just that most of them get rock hard when they know the answer to a posed question, and they can't help themselves but to answer it...or if not answer it, make sure everyone knows that they know the answer, or drop enough hints that the answer is obvious (but while still claiming the "I didn't spoil anything specifically" bullshite).
It's fricking stupid and sad. I love talking on this board with you assholes about shows that I like, but sometimes (and this particular show) it's impossible because people think that just because they are "in the know" that it's cool and they don't give a frick if they ruin anything for others.

Right, with the fences as their defense they could have picked off all the walkers as they went through the prison yard without ever firing a shot. That would be pretty boring TV though.
