meh I started the same damn thread. Yes I'm irrationally fricking mad right now but I just don't trust that little shite. He looks nervous as hell and the more nervous he gets the more he pushes it left. Just because he had a magical year in 09 does not give him carte blanche to push everything left when it really matters.

He made the first one, got moved back and got lined up to kick the second, then had to get lined up a third time and kick at a third distance.

Thats a tough situation, and only his second miss this season. I wouldnt cut him.

The morons crying out for Hartley's head are either trolling or brainless. Possibly both. They certainly don't remember 2008 wth Gramatica and the games he cost us. Hartley is $$$$ most of the time. Does anyone have the statistics on NFL kickers kicking FG's over 45 yards? That is a long kick. It's doable, but if the guy misses it, he is by no means a "bad" kicker.

fair enough

But on a scale of 1-10 what would you rate your confidence in him in a make or break scenario?

Give Danny Hrapman a call. New Orleans kid who made all of his preseason kicks with the Steelers, including some long 40 yarders. He was a Lou Groza award finalist. May not have kicked in big games yet, but would it hurt to give him a tryout and see how he does?

found this: take it FWIW

a 48 yard FG puts us at 33. Success is about 55% from there.

Anyone that has something better for overall FG stats, please post it. I think this needs to be taken with a big grain of salt

I think what makes it 10x worse is the fact he has choked plenty in game winning/changing situations(tampa, Atlanta, GB, etc.) and we watch so many other NFL kickers make those kicks almost blindfolded. although in his defense he made some big kicks in the SB and NFCCG(does not excuse misses though by any means)...but he was bad in 2010.which is why he was replaced. That % seems skewed though.

I don't really trust him either. Watching other kickers today I feel like Hartley is solidly in the bottom third.

I mean, St. Louis drafted a kid who hit 58, 60 and two others.

Kicks from 50+ were converted at a higher rate than 55% last season so I highly doubt that chart's right.

Since his 09 season, he's done absolutely nothing for the Saints except miss crucial field goals, get suspended, miss an entire season due to injury, and have a 40 year old kicker completely out play him.

I agree he is not consistent, but he did kick us to our one and only superbowl.

Using that logic Tracy Porter and Reggie Bush would still be on this team. Although I really wish Tracy Porter still was on this team.
