this isn't a college football board. I'd say the 2012 saints are equal to the 2012 saints.

It's actually pretty close. John L Smith is no Petrino. And Kromer sure the hell is no Payton.

its not even close. the game was done, and the scab refs cost us. doesnt excuse the end of the game and OT, however if we werent fricked over - we wouldnt have gone to OT.

I think the comparison is dead on...

- Ship with no rudder (no head coach).
- lame duck coach (they know Cromer has no power)
- great QB with suspect playcalling (ie abandoning the run)
- high expecations but underlying volcano beneath the surface
- head coach banging skanks on the side

Yeah well if the Saints played the Citadel or some shite school like that, they would have a win too.

But seriously, I thought the comparison was pretty dead on too for all of the other points you made. Perfectly in-line with what I was thinking.

Actually no, I haven't visited the SECRant lately.

ETA: But I see it now.

Your comparison wouldnt be stupid if Arkansas coach was hailed as one of the best ever, coaching one of the best offenses ever, with one of the best QBs ever still in his prime, going on to win a Championship, then getting raped and having to watch his team, easily full of enough talent to win another championship, from his coach.

Just because we both lost our HC doesn't make us similar.

Am I saying that Tyler Wilson = Drew Brees? Absolutely not. But Tyler Wilson was an All-SEC performer last year, a pre-season All-SEC guy this year. Let's not act like we came into this season thinking the guy was a chump.

We knew Ar-Kansas was all about offense with very little support on defense.

Oh and both the head coaches that are not present are pretty damn comparable offensive minds, with respect to the NFL and College Football, respectively. Don't act like Petrino's absence is any less important to them than Payton's absence is to us.

A guy that sits around me is a hogfan, Arky grad.

He brought up this point before the game.

He said he is a firm believer in the fact that if your head coach gets yanked before the season, you're screwed.

Arkansas had absolutely no shot at a national title this year, coach or no coach, these situations are not similar.
