The only reason people are even still watching this show is to see who the mother is.

I watch it because it's a funny, well-written show with a great cast. The Mother is a MacGuffin. I don't care.

And this episode A) moved the plot forward on Lilly, one of the central characters, B) used one of their common devices - the Roshomon style storytelling (that, and sandwiches), and C) was funny. Oh, and Barney was there -- that was the joke. The Captain told Lilly that his art dealer hooked up with some duke.

Yeesh.

Felt like I was the only one who caught that. People are looking for reasons to hate the show, kind of like The Office, we get it the cool thing is to say how much it sucks now and was better 8 years ago. The plot can make miraculously leaps forward every episode and matter of fact this one did move forward with Lily. Oh and there was no mention of the crazy chick Ted is dating...

I thiught it was a good episode but i hated the lilly storyline. Im fed up with her "oh no i cant fufill my dream of becoming a successful artist!!" Schtick

Newflash: your painting sucks and you tried that already when you left marshal (what a bitch) to go to SF an you fell flat on your face.

Im sure it pisses off Kindergarden teacher how much she trashes that job

The captain picking up the controller to record Real Housewives was pretty damn funny.

I don't get this. I can relate to Lilly in a way. I'm very passionate about many things outside of my job and would love to pursue those things as careers, but I don't. I've tried some of these things as hobbies, such as being a musician, but haven't really ever got anywhere because of the time / effort needed. I'm sure 5 years from now I'll look back and have regrets just like Lilly unless I take a shot at one of them.

I was uncomfortable with her trashing of being a teacher (my wife is one), but there are things you admit to your spouse you would never tell anyone else. I understand that and I know Mrs. Baloo has had some "I hate being a teacher" moments (though not as unfulfilled as Lilly.

Yall read into this too much. I think its more Lilly is unhappy because she didn't attain her dreams and settled for a job that happened to be teaching than anything derogatory about teaching as a profession. It's not for everybody.

Teachers, more than any other profession, have the most amount of butthurt.

true.

If you say anything other than "they are molding the minds of the future and deserve to be treated like gods" they come down hard. Well really just the female ones. I know some guys who are teachers and they are actually pretty funny about it and can joke.

Who else enjoyed the new episode?

I thought it was pretty funny if nothing else Barney looked exactly like Bernie.

I missed most of it due to weather updates that apparently just couldn't have been done before 7. But I enjoyed the parts I did see.

It was pretty solid. I wish they'd have show the full Weekend at Barnies

Well, now, no more women till the mother

Anyone know how many episodes are left in the season?

Did anyone else's volume go out? I recorded it and the first 19 min were fine then in the middle of Barney/robin talking everything went mute. It was mute until the end and then the volume came back on during the final commercials.

Very annoying bc I thought the episode was great

It was a classic episode for the first 20 minutes

Got to see some Playbook at work (when does the playbook get its own spinoff?) which is always awesome. If this is the last of the playbook id be pissed

Marshall and the skittles had me dying laughing, as did the "i understand that" back and forth with Ted and Barney. Also loved Marshall giving those cheesy jokes

The last 5-10 minutes just reminded me how much i hated Barney and Robin together (here it comes again) and how drawn out the show has gotten.

Him not burning the playbook the first time still screams "not ready for the commitment" to me but even more ridiculous than there relationship is Robin getting mad at Barney for lying when SHE STILL HASNT TOLD HIM SHE CANT HAVE KIDS.

And Ted "im tire of dating" thing was stupid. Hes been trying to get married since episode 1. One crazy bitch isnt changing anything.

This episode was awesome. The best of the season IMO. Maybe the best of the last couple of seasons. The playbook stuff was great.
