FIFA or PES?

I'm thinking about getting back into soccer video gaming. Back when I was playing it, PES was the top dog while FIFA was trying to make its name. Now it seems like FIFA is the more popular game but I'm wondering if that is just because it has EA Sports on the cover.
I saw this article:

which helped a good bit but wanted to see the gaming board's opinion. I'm not much of an online gamer so know that.

I used to love PES but I think I'm going to go with FIFA even though I play mostly single player. Downloading the PES demo right now and will give a more definitive answer tomorrow.

FIFA. PES was better up until about 3 years ago. FIFA has surpassed PES these days and its not even close.

You're on a American board, so the answers are going to heavily side with FIFA. PES has never been successful here, but dominated FIFA in Europe until recently. PES still is highly favored in most EU countries, just not in the largest market (the UK).

Definitely FIFA!.. I will go in for FIFA anytime, in today’s date.. maybe a few years back, I would have opted for PES, but FIFA has regained its position at the top.

PES has an interesting aspect that no one really talks about but I think is cool. each time you play (im talking exibition one on one with your friend, which is what I play more often than not) the players have not only rating but how they are feeling that day. Red arrow up means they are feeling it, purple arrow down means they are sick, and a few in between. This means that you have to use your backups and change around formations based on who's feeling good. Which to me is part of the fun. In Fifa you start the same team every time.
If you can download patches its easy to import the actual team names to PES and update trades and whatnot. Ive done this on a p.c. but not sure if you can do it from an xbox or other console..
