How would Crowton have faired with Mett?

I think he was hot garbage but for the first couple of years he was here, he was pretty damn good. I think Les, as we all know, called alot of the plays toward the end of his tenure. If he had been given full control with a decent qb, could he have been successful again?
I'm very happy with the offense over the past two years, just watched a few videos on youtube and got me to thinking.

Crowton was a play caller, not a coach. He couldn't develop talent. Everywhere he went, he inherited talent, utilized it brilliantly, and then the offense petered off due to his poor coaching skills.
I like to compare him to a kid who is brilliant at calling plays on NCAA 2013 but isn't capable of coaching a team. We saw his creativity in 2007, but from there on we saw a deterioration in the discipline of our offense. Some was beyond his control, but much of it was his fault. The fact that JJ and JL, two fairly talented players, didn't progress one iota under him should be indicative of his poor coaching skills.

Crowton would have ruined Mett just like he ruined Lee and JJ.

This is probably the truth. They were talented but clearly not coached up.

he would have "coached" Mett until he couldn't tell the difference between an offensive and defensive player.

Crowton was poo.
There was a letter from a BYU guy to LSU fans about Crowton when we hired him (wish I had the link) and he basically predicted how LSU's offense would go under Crowton. He was pretty spot on with his timeline too.
Crowton is good out the gate and then fades and fades quickly.

yep, because Richt, Bobo and Juco would have already done a good enough job of prepping him to run the Kitchen Sink offense.

Good chance Mett would have never chosen LSU

he had full control of BYUs QB, 2 QBs here at LSU, and another when he went to Maryland....he quickly sent all 4 down the shitter. how much more evidence do you need?
