I'm almost to the bottom of a drum of cheese drippings. Next time I set my hoop nets I should use the rest of it. I'll give it to you, though you will have buzzards coming from 25 miles the first time you start cooking in it.

I was getting them once from a cousin who sells oilfield chemicals. There was a chemical used in pipelines to keep them from freezing he was selling. Those barrels were the cleanest I have ever seem. Methylene I think. Where are you located?

I've got several old food grade barrels laying around you can have. They must have been used for citrus fruit transport....might give a little orange flavor the first time you cook...says something about "agent orange" or something like that marked on the side.

I've thought about this too, but I feel the galvanized part of it might be bad for smoking and it's not cast iron meaning the heat will dissipate more readily and temperature will fluxuate too much to keep it consistent.

Do not use galvanized metal. The smoke is toxic.
