How do you think a team compiled of players from all the countries in the African Continent would fare if they faced off against the upper echelon Countries of the world?

Are we talking about European trained Africans who choose to represent their countries of origin? Or Africans born in Africa?

I feel like the African team would be pretty good, especially if you have European trained players in the side. I think they would lack a creative element, although Yaya Toure and Alex Song could do an excellent job of that.

The best available, plain and simple either way.

I was just remarking on how good Essien when healthy is, and how good Yaya currently is. There are a few other players who are very good as well. I'm not knowledgeable enough on the subject so I don't know all of their great players. You have Drogba, some defenders who play in EPL and such. I have no clue who their best Keeper would be

Carlos Kameni would probably be their keeper. They'd have some decent strikers to choose from, i.e. Eto'o and Drogba. A player like Stephane Sessegnon would be good in a withdrawn forward role as well. They certainly would have a powerful team that wouldn't be a slouch defensively.

Ba and Cisse. Belhanda, Gervinho, Asamoah, and Ayew. Plenty of attacking talent.

Doumbia.

They could trot out a 4-0-6 formation.

yeah they have a lot of attacking talent and some defense, but as was stated earlier, they would possibly have problem linking the midfield to the attackers. i doubt they'd beat the top of europe just b/c spain is boat racing everyone right now

They would probably be 2nd behind Europe's All-stars.

3rd would be South America, 4th Asia.. and 5th North America.

Although we might even come in after Antarctica or something

Supposing they have a premiere Mister, and have time to practice and gel, they'd be very, very competitive. Very.

A combined Brazil and Argentina would be, at worst, second

A combined North America would be competitive with a combined Asia

I was talking about only combining Africa. As in Africa vs. Italy, or England...

I know. My response was directed at:

I didn't really have anything to add to the consensus that an African XI would be really competitive.

North America, including Mexico, is better than Asia.

I think the African team would be really unbalanced. Lots of great forwards, defensive midfielders, and fullbacks, but basically no depth in goal besides Kameni and not many guys like Modric who can be catalysts in midfield.

I feel like an all-Africa team would have been better five years ago. Essien, Drogba, Eto'o, Muntari, Kolo Toure, and Eboue are all on the back ends of their careers.

WTF is up with Asamoah Gyan? I know he went to the UAE and saw his stats, but never really heard what happened with Sunderland. Anyone following the league in the UAE?

There are people that claim to watch various leagues and read about them. Is it so far fetched to think someone might have checked up on Gyan?

Yeah, I know that. Was his contract up after his loan? I just remember the deal was kind of out of nowhere.
