Offensive Line: dating all the way back to the first preseason game...there have been protection issues for Brees...that has not changed. Losing Nicks has obviously had an effect on the line. While Grubbs may be solid he isn't Nicks and apparently it is effecting the whole line. Not blaming him directly...but maybe Nicks covered up Puente's mistakes. Maybe now they are testing the middle more than before knowing it could be a weakness.

Wide Receivers: The lack of separation is terrible and is one of the reasons Drew has been throwing picks...every attempt is in tight windows because there is no where else to go while running for his life. This may stem from a lack of deep threat...we do not have one.

Coaching: Lack of halftime adjustments, Lack of game to game adjustments...it doesn't seem like the offense has a game plan but instead just attempts to run plays...this isn't madden.

Defense: I like the players on the roster...I think there is talent even though you would not notice it based off the games we have seen. My biggest issue besides getting ran all over back to back weeks...is Will Smith. For a pro bowl end who makes anywhere from 8-10 million a year I can't seem to find the production from him to warrant his pay or place as a starter or even a roster spot. He seems to be suffering from Charles Grant syndrome. I think Galette and Wilson just want his job more than he does.

Bingo with the WR observation. The safeties are playing close and taking away lanes that we are used to seeing. We NEED a deep threat to take the lid off the defense and open up the mid-range passing attack that Drew loves and we are built for.

you cant compare our Defense to the best Defense in the whole NFL...of course 49ers have a better D...

I was saying we have enough decent pieces though to at least be respectable...75 in two games...no bueno

Nicks not being there has nothing to do with Strief and Bushrod getting beat. Our tackles aren't up to snuff, point blank.

And our wide receivers have always been overachievers. Just look at how many times Brees has to fit the ball between two defenders. I like Colston, but he depends on finding soft spots in zones. Moore doesn't separate. Meachem did, but he and Henderson disappear too often. Graham is the only receiver that really gains steps on people. It's why losing Toon was so costly. No telling what he could do. No matter.

Our defense lacks disrupters. The guys that just make impact plays that force offenses to account for them at all times. It's why I wonder what's holding Wilson back. Is it in his head? Is he slow to pick up the game? Casillas is out there, but he's out of his element when not attacking the QB. And why hasn't Wilson put a hand in hte dirt and tried to beat a tackle on the outside yet? Is it because our first two opponents had dangerous runners at QB?

I've also noticed we haven't been chipping the DEs with our RBs to help out our tackles. Hopefully we can start to give Drew some more time. Though we desperately need a deep threat.

Strief and Bushrod have never been the bread and butter of the oline...its been the middle...the whole unit looks terrible it really is all of them...maybe nicks helped cover bushrod up too by giving him 1 on 1 match ups all day long. Grubbs has to make up for both guys and maybe nicks was just better at doing it hence why he wanted his pay day.

the receivers are just bad top to bottom...colston at this point i think is a great 2nd option and moore a phenomenal 3...we need a 1 and a deep threat...

We need to get more conservative with our offense. Use an actual full back more, have a TE or RB in to block and help our line since they can't hold it down. Chip with TE's and RB's when they go out for a pass.

Utilize the screen more often, check down underneath to our RB's and receivers running shallow routes. Throw some quick passes to the flats WR screen type deal.

Until we correct our issues we just need to get conservative, run the ball, have a heavy dose of TE and RB in the passing game, and hit Receivers on short routes and check downs. Just chip away at the defense, and dont make mistakes.

We spent all our money on QB and cant afford anything else....

I know I will be rantarded. I love Brees and I acknowledge he is the best QB in the NFL... But we have nothing else...

It's difficult to make adjustments when our. O-line coach is not able to fill his role. I think thinks will come around but we do lack talent. A tackle in next years draft might be lurking...

I love how everyone just finds every excuse to what stinks on the team without ever blaming the qb. It wasn't the o-line who made that horrible pass to let the Panthers tie the game when the defense had just got a stop. It wasn't the o-line who threw the horrible interception's at the end of both games when the team still had a chance to tie.

Brees has always thrown into double and triple coverage, which is why he throws a lot of picks. Now all of a sudden we are going to blame it on the wr's. I could spin it around and say the Saint's wr's have bailed out Brees by going up and getting balls in coverage more than any wr's on any other team.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here. This is a team who looks like they are missing their head coach. Boom.Roasted.

All facets of the Offense are not playing up to par.

Brees is making risky throws, foolish decisions
O-line isn't getting enough push up front on runs, nor giving Brees a comfortable pocket often enough
Receivers aren't getting themselves open
We are using Ingram in obvious runs, while not letting Sproles carry the ball at all
Some plays are just obvious based on the formation
Not using a Fullback or Tight End to help block
Not converting enough 3rd downs, or goal to go situations

There are just as many problems this side of the ball as the Defensive side. We know we are capable of so much more on Offense though, it just all needs to come together. Individual play needs to improve, so to does the play calling.

I agree. I just think it's messed up for people to completely blame the o-line.

I thought the play calling was awful against the Redskins, but I thought Pete called a great game against the Panthers.

The play calling today wan't bad really. I feel we needed to keep TE/FB in to help our struggling O-line, or have them chip the defenders.

We still could have used more screens, cut down on Ingram up the gut or at least make the formations not so obvious he's going to get the ball. We could have got Sproles so carries. Mix in some runs when we are 3rd and short, or goal to go situations instead of always passing the ball.

At this point we need to take as much of the burden off of the O-line in pass protection, and Brees passing the ball as we can until them get on track.

I'd love to see 35-40 throws tops, not 50 or more. Get 30 runs in there as well.

Bingo Sean Payton is this team he built it. Anyone who thought different was drinking the Kool-aid. It's going to be a long year.

In two games so far all facets of the Saints are playing poorly due to a wide variety of reasons.
But three stand out.
1. We don't have our offensive brain.
2. New def. coach and system.
3. Injuries to W.R.'s and DB's.

We wondered how the org would react to adversity we just didn't think it would happen from the start.
On to week three.
