Food for thought. Is our passing game really that much different than it was thru three games last year?

Lee (2011)
Oregon: 10/22 98 yds. 1td 1 sack 0 int.
NSU: 9/10 133 yds 1 td 1 sack 0 int.
Miss. St.21/27 211 yds 1td 1 sack 1 int.

Opponents: #3 Oregon (neutral); Northwestern State (home) and #25 Miss. State (road)

3 game totals:
40/59 (67%) 422 yds. 3 TD’s 3 sacks and 1 int.

Mett (2012)
N. Tex. 19/26 192 1 Td 1 Int. 2 sacks
UW 12/18 195 1 TD 0 Int. 0 sacks
Idaho 17/22 222 2 TD 1 Int. 3 sacks

Opponents: North Texas (home); Washington (home) and Idaho (home).

3 game totals:

48/66 (72%) 609 yds. 4 TD’s 2 Int.’s 5 sacks.

Stats are little better in 2012, but the competition was much tougher in 2011.

Yes, we are more dynamic and throw the ball down the field with effectiveness.

Type of passes I see being thrown (the last two games) provide a much different threat than last year.

The potential towards the back end is 100X more than what we've had in the last 4 years IMO.

Yes. The opponent's being easier isn't necessarily helping us rack up yardage and scores. There is no point to throw the ball up 30.

Here is the thing, Lee did all that with a much cleaner pocket. He could make the throws, but watch him in the Bama game. He is just flinchy.

Mettenberger has much more talent than Lee or Jefferson. It will take some time for him to grow. In addition we do not have anyone like Randall to throw to, and our TE's are just smallish tackles. I think we will open up the passing attack more and more as the season progresses.

Lee was not that bad. But JJ was.
