I am confident that this "gaffe" will receive the same degree of attention that Romney's alleged "gaffe" has.
I wonder if this is an instance where the President "shot first and aimed later"?

the egyptian government isn't even fully formed yet; they're still rebuilding after a massive shift overthrowing the former regime. who would the US be allying itself with right now?
if he'd said we were a strong ally of egypt, i'm sure there'd be right wing outcry about how obama allies himself with the Muslim Brotherhood.
on this board, Obama is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

Wasn't the original statement a prepared statement? Why is it necessary to clarify a prepared statement? That is not a gaffe. That is incompetence.
