Mexican Manhattan, its on the riverwalk, and if the weather is bad today there is plenty of room inside.

Only answer. It is a ten minute drive from you but the best mexican you will ever eat. A really enjoyable setting walking through the big wooden doors outside. Plenty of celebrities and politicians eat there.

Someone should sticky a US cities food thread with links to every major city so they are easy to find.

The beef tenderloin at Paesano's is the best steak I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The shrimp paesano appetizer is also stellar.

Rudy's BBQ is also a must. Family style BBQ that is fantastic.

Boudro's is also a hit as others have said.

Mi Tierra is more atmosphere for the authentic Mexican than anything.

Bumping my thread now that my trip to SA is over and here are my thoughts for future reference:

THURS
Taco Palenque: flight got in super late, have never had any other mexican fast food besides Taco Bell. Pretty good for it being fast food.

FRI
Boudros: on the riverwalk, got the guac which is made tableside, it was very good. Got country fried ribeye for my meal it was just okay, gfs grilled chicken salad was pretty shitty.

La Gloria: in the pearl brewery area. Had a mini second lunch after we got done visiting the touristy fake food on the riverwalk. Much better mexican food, my friends from SA were adamant that I go there. An "upscale" mexican restaurant in the sense that it isnt just traditional mexican food but higher quality tacos etc.

Taco Garage: Alamo heights. got queso and a V-12 which was basically 12 mini margaritas that are flavored differently. Drinking began.

Pabloma Blanco: Alamo Heights. A really nice, expensive mexican restaurant. Prob the best food I had in SA.

SAT
Earl Abels: alamo heights. Ate breakfast here, it was pretty solid for breakfast. Just a country breakfast that is famous for there fried chicken

Paesanos: riverwalk. Went for the shrimp paesano ($12) and left. The shrimp was good

Mi Tierra: market square. Pretty cool experience. I don't think it was as good as Pabloma Blanco but definitely worth going to. Very, very mexicany.

In short: I ate a TON of mexican food and was very happy overall. Pabloma Blanco was probably the best food I got with La Gloria coming in a close second.

Earl Abels was really good chicken. Try Taco Taco Cafe next time. Great breakfast Tacos... They make the tortillas completely from scratch right in front of you. For Lunch, the El Norteno there is a great steak Taco.

Not that I saw. Riverwalk is more touristy than anything else.

Blue box in pearl brewery was a pretty good beer bar tho.
