The best BCS controversy would be a rematch of LSU-'Bama

It would require a series statistical anomalies not previously described or even dreamed of. Think of it. LSU/UA 1 and 2 again at the end of the regular season. What would ESPN, the sports writers, pollsters, other conference ADs, commissioners and fans do with themselves?

Imagine the attitude of the BCS cheerleaders when their assignment was to promote not just the SEC, but LSU/'Bamm part deaux.

Personally, I am torn over whether to wish for that to happen again or not.

No. Shouldn't have happened last year! Alabama was much ready for the rematch than LSU and it showed. LSU needs to take care of business by blowin out Bama even though I know it will be hard to do. The blowout would make a statement about last season as well as sayin there will be no rematch!

The winner of the regular season game will go to the SEC Championship game. The winner of that game, if Bama or LSU, will play USC. I don't see a rematch for the NC, unless USC and Oregon beat each other up in their game and conference championship too. The winner of Bama/LSU would have no losses, so it could be an Oklahoma with no losses sneaking in there.

As much disrespect Miles typically gets from the media I never want LSU to be in a popularity contest for the a NC spot. So we need to win the SEC.

I also don't believe in the rematches anyways. It is unfair to the rest of college football to subjectively say two teams who already compete for a spot in the title game (winning their conference) should be the best using the eye ball test.

meh

I would much rather see the SEC champion square off against another conference champion.

It would also be epic if Texas A&M played Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

Screw that. Bring on USC. It's a bitch to beat your rival twice in one year.

Dunno if this is Germans but check out 1959 LSU's games with Ole Miss. The scores should look very close to familiar.

Problem with your analogy is you are assuming LSU and ALA will be closely contested game in 2012. Assuming Mett is in the line-up and stays healthy I think LSU wins by double digits in Death Valley. NO rematch necessary.

No more playing teams we already beat in rematch games.

Never a good prospect.

I agree completely. LSU got screwed having to beat the same school twice to be champs, but who cares about what is right. As much grief as I have given the coaching staff over that awful game, they never should have had to play it.

A blowout by either side would take care of that possibility which is one reason I said it would take statistical anomalies of galactic proportions to happen.

Here's hoping LSU hammers 'Bama.

It could happen again this year, but I don't understand the point of your thread. You're saying the "best BCS controversy" for what reason? They've already implemented a 4 team playoff starting in 2014 have they not?

USC is not going to even come close to going to the BCS national championship - Oregon maybe. ESPN manipulated the Bama LSU rematch last year but they will make sure it does not happen again.

That would not affect what happens this year.

No rematch. LSU should have taken it easy in the first game and concentrate on the mulligan to wn the title last year. Yes I am bitter about last years BCS lost but who wouldn't be if your team was on the losing team in second game.
