if i needed the equipment to produce pictures like this (understanding that the talent would be lacking), what would it set me back?

$5k?

i am thinking the camera body is somewhat less important thant the lens. T3i genre? 7D?

prime, long range lens? $3500? or is this one of those lenses that you finance like a car?

my guess from looking at the photos: T2i or T3i with a 70-200 f4. That setup an be had for around 1500 buying used/eBay.
