Cross merchandising idea (Saints/Hornets)

Really ironic that today we see the AD23 in a Saints hat picture.
I was thinking about this yesterday as I saw Ogletree of the Cowboys being interviewed on Sportscenter in a Bulls hat.
If I owned both the Saints and Hornets, I'd offer gift cards or something to any one of my players who was interviewed on national television (live or canned piece) in the hat of the other team. So Hornet in a Saints hat - thanks for the advertising to young impressionable kids - here's a $300 gift card. Saint in a Hornets hat - same deal, here's a $300 gift card to Saks.
Do you think that's legal for Benson to do? Do you think it's a neat idea or is it merely Alejandro just Alejandro-ing?
Builds comradery among the two teams (who will soon share a large campus) and promotes the brands to the most impressionable sports fans (kids who buy gear, etc).

why do they need this?

where did you get that figure?
i won't say it's a bad idea, but i'm not sure it's worth $300

There was similar talk to this when the rebrand discussion started when Benson took over. Some people were saying the Hornets should take on the same Black/Gold color scheme and this would help with merchandising. Not sure if it would go as far as you're saying, but I'm sure Benson will figure something out to make some money off of it.
ETA: I guess what you're saying is a little different though
Also,
So you admit it?

THey always sold those half saints half fleur de bee logos, but now maybe you can get liscensed products with this on it. (There may be an issue wiht Addidas/Nike spornsoring the NBA/NFl)

how awesome would it be to wear a hornets football jersey and a saints basketball jersey. Then we can smoke a blunt and watch dude where's my car.

I know that would violate the NFL's salary cap rules, and most likely the NBA's as well. Not that $300 on the side is a lot, but it's still a no no.

this idea is legit, and who better to start it than benson..?? Especially high-profile players and coaches. Think about payton doing a presser last year with a lsu hat on. It went viral dow here.
this idea promotes loyalty and cohesiveness. I like it.

This is what I'm screaming. Imagine a 12 year old kid in Mandeville who hasn't had the ability to see the Hornets until this year thanks to the COX snafu.
Imaging him seeing his hero Jimmy Graham being interviewed live on ESPN one afternoon ater he gets home from school, and Jimmy is rocking a sweet Hornets cap for the 5 minutes he's on TV.
That kid might be changed forever as far as his NBA fandom. He would suddenly need some Hornets gear, maybe he asks his dad to bring him to their first Hornets game.

Total cap violation on both sides.
Nice thought.
At least they advertise Hornets studf at Saints games, now.
