It's crazy with how much we love NFL and obsess over each game that there's no Saints poster or blog who studies film and breaks down individual matchups (our guards vs Redskins DTs, etc) spot for spot for spot. What to watch for, key indicators, etc

This isnt a criticism - I by no means have the knowledge to do this and I played organized football from ages 6-17. Would love to learn more about our linemen and how they match up individually is all.

You rely on other people too much.

I doubt there's much of a market for it. Sophandros often posts Football Outsiders advanced analysis when they cover the Saints and the reaction even on here is pretty limited.

It's another example of how NBA fans - even fans of mediocre to bottom teams like the Hornets seem to have a greater appetite for analytical data than NFL fans do.

Hornets 247 really gets into the nifty gritty of stats and player evals - would love to see a similar site for Saints.

I don't know if they still do it, but the TP would have a write up in Sunday's paper breaking down what to whatch and would have matchups like QB vs Secondary, OL vs. DL, etc.

Although it is the first game of the season and any in depth breakdowns would be premature at best.

This would be nice for someone to kick start. I for one don't have the knowledge to do so. It would for sure be a hot topic though.

Fantasy Sports drives a lot of the stat driven coverage we see these days. Advanced analysis of the top 8 or so players on each NBA team are helpful to people playing fantasy basketball. Advanced analysis of individual linemen are not.

There's only 5-7 people to worry about on an NBA team. This would require so much more work it wouldn't be worth it.

As for not breaking down individual match ups along the dine, the only people who have the time to do this are paid by the nfl and college teams to do so.
